Via Greg Hengler, a perfect follow-up to Obamas revisionism last night. Three points. One: Whats the word she utters at around 1:10? Is she trying to say misled? I guess someone needs to tell the nominal head of one of Americas two major parties, whos been a member of Congress for nearly 10 years, that my-zeld isnt the correct pronunciation.
Two: Shes still pushing the idea that insurers are canceling plans en masse quasi-voluntarily rather than doing it because (a) the law now requires that every plan feature a menu of certain essential benefits and (b) HHS wrote the regulations on grandfathered plans exceptionally narrowly in order to maximize the number of plans that would be disqualified. And they did that, of course, because the more middle-class people there are whove been forced into more expensive plans, the more money insurers will have to subsidize coverage for the sick and poor. The goal was redistribution, as other Democrats are slowly beginning to acknowledge. Too bad Wasserman-Schultz cant, preferring to pawn this all off instead on Obamas pals/partners/scapegoats in the insurance industry.
Three: Contra Debbie, signing up via the ObamaCare website doesnt arguably need to be easier. It needs to be easier. Thats why Obama called in outsiders for a tech surge, see? Imagine how zombified youd need to be in your recitation of partisan spin to say that the Healthcare.gov Chernobyl arguably could stand some improvement. Its like saying the Titanic arguably should have been more buoyant. In fact, thanks in part to the website catastrophe, were already getting closer to an iceberg we might not be able to avoid:
Insurers say the early buyers of health coverage on the nations troubled new websites are older than expected so far, raising early concerns about the economics of the insurance marketplaces.
If the trend continues, an older, more expensive set of customers could drive up prices for everyone, the insurers say, by forcing them to spread their costs around. We need a broad range of people to make this work, and were not seeing that right now, said Heather Thiltgen of Medical Mutual of Ohio, the states largest insurer by individual customers. Were seeing the population skewing older.
In states that are running their own marketplaces and have seen smoother rollouts, officials are now also reporting a similar phenomenon, suggesting the economics of the law play a role, too. In Connecticut and Kentucky, which have enrolled more than 4,000 people each in private health plans so far, the largest segments of enrollees in new commercial health-law plans are over age 55, much older than industry actuaries say they had anticipated
The law includes provisions to ease the risks insurers face. For instance, federal funds will reimburse insurers for certain losses if they underestimate costs. But, actuaries say if the overall pool of customers is significantly older than expected, those provisions may not be enough to protect insurers against losses.
Is a bailout coming? Too early to know yet but the October enrollment numbers, presumably with lots of key demographic data, are set to be released by HHS next week. How many are old people, how many are Medicaid enrollees, and how many are actually the young invincibles on whom the fate of the law depends? Whatever the answer, rest assured: Debbie Wasserman-Schultz will be thrilled with the results.

“We have always been at war with Eastasia”
I hereby dub this dust-up Lyingsackofsh!tgate.
That is the only logical explanation!!
:p
Pathological, no doubt. All the evidence is there.
I am concerned they have crossed over into psychopathic behavior.
A sow that is no longer useful for her intended purpose. Off to the pig market.
I could mention some things that do rise to the top. But I won’t.
-— The left is officially liberated from the oppressive limits of reality. Totally unconstrained, they are finally free to promise, claim, state, declare any damn thing they please, regardless of its acquaintance with the truth. No such thing as a lie, unless they say its a lie. -—
That’s worth repeating.
LOL,The pig market wouldn't be able to sell that spoiled carcass for dog food.
Yes, I can hear him saying that clearly. Same with his Carney barker (I always think of Squealer when I see/hear Carney). Thanks for posting this pic...I saw it the other day...weren’t there others in the same vein?
You know something Travis, last night in my prayers I asked the Good LORD to please please don’t let my handsome wonderful husband be a Boxer. How weird is that?
My husband has been working since he was 10 yrs old. Several part-time jobs to feed his family (I’m his second wife) in the early years. Military service. He’s a big strong hard worker. A truck driver. He rarely takes a day off. He has always paid his bills. He’s always the one to say things like “we’ll get through it, I’ll work a little longer or harder.” Just like Boxer. This similarity scares me, frankly. Because we all know how it ended for Boxer.
We’ve been working toward paying off the mortgage early so he can retire a little earlier (at 63 rather than 66) and have some sort of life (hunting and fishing, bless his heart).
Just rec’d our “tax” for the Free Sh** Army thru the healthcare plan at work. Almost a couple thousand extra per year, higher copay/deductible blahblahblah.
A couple of thousand dollars more a year, Travis! But, my husband will most likely have to work an extra year or two to make up for it. And I hate the pigs with a red-hot passion.
God help us all.
Sorry to dump on you!!
Please tell me there’s someone sane running against her in the next election!
Where did that Shutup and make me a sandwich thing come from.
My son says it to me, I know it’s a joke but what’s the source?
My wise a doesn’t even like sandwiches!
I have no idea of the source. I think it’s meant to be a kind of Andrew Dice Clay thing.
I love it! Wudda maroon! She must have been reading.
Or maybe its Yiddish.
Actually, it always looks like my-zeld to me when I see it. But I've never pronounced it my-zeld!
I think it should be spelled missled to avoid the my-zeld problem.
DWS kills a patient every time she says my-zeld. They die laughing.
IF there is anyway to Go Galt, then Starve the Monkey.
Funny you should mention going Galt...I’m about half way thru the book...prophetic, no? Before we married, I had gone as much Galt as possible. My theory was “the more I make, the more they take” so I kept my income as low as I could...no tv...beater vehicle...apartment dweller...shopped at Goodwill, etc. I doubt Mr V3 is going to want to burn down his property like the character in Atlas...oil guy...can’t remember name...and move to an even more rural place than we have. LOL. No, there’s only so much we can do.
About the book...the only thing I really dislike about it so far is the adulterous relationship between Dagny and Reardon. Maybe there will be a great explanation for it later on, but right now I find it somewhat creepy!
I could never finish Atlas. Paragraphs become chapters, it never ends.
LOL. Tell me about it. The book is so big and thick it hurts my wrists to hold it for long. I admit to scanning some of those paragraphs-that-turn-into-chapters. I’m determined to finish it, tho.
I wish there was some definitive explanation of what it means in this day and age to “go Galt.”
BTW, your books are on my list.
Take care, Travis.
