Carney To Fox’s Ed Henry: ‘It Would Be Awesome’ If Cruz and Rand Paul Run in 2016

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney made the unusual move of encouraging Republican senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul to pursue the presidential nomination during his daily briefing Friday, even if his words were in jest. Carney was deflecting questions about the 2016 Democratic field when he volunteered that he thinks it would be “awesome” if those two Republicans entered the race.

Carney was avoiding a question from Fox News’ Ed Henry about Joe Biden’s chances in 2016, given the revelation from the new book Double Down: Game Change 2012 suggesting President Obama considered replacing Biden with Hillary Clinton as his second-term running mate. “Does the president believe the vice president would be a strong president?”

“Sure,” Carney answered, adding that Obama picked Biden as his running mate “for the right reason, which is that, if necessary, Vice President Biden to be president.” But the press secretary was not about to announce an endorsement from Obama for the 2016 race, at least on the Democratic side. “We can talk about the Republicans,” Carney said. “That’s pretty interesting.”

Henry gladly took him up on the offer, immediately asking for Carney’s thoughts on Cruz and Paul specifically.

“I think they all ought to run,” Carney said. “It would be awesome.”

Thanks .
Rand Paul’s immigration speech

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
[but he’s not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]

Rand Paul is very suspect to me. I don’t like him. I think he has some weird libertarian tendencies. Last thing we need at a high level.

Rand Paul Calls For Personhood Law To End Abortion ‘Once And For All’

Republican U.S. Senator Rand Paul is calling for a so-called “personhood” law to “end abortion on demand once and for all.” Sen. Paul, a Tea Party Libertarian Republican and the son of Congressman Ron Paul, has recorded a message for the National Pro-Life Alliance. Paul is attacking the U.S. Supreme Court as “nine unelected men and women” who have “invented laws” and “played God with innocent human life” because of the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

“Will you help me in a bold and aggressive campaign to end abortion on demand once and for all?” Paul asks.

Paul claims “Congress has the power to legislatively end Roe v. Wade,” which is stunning, since no law can overrule a Supreme Court verdict; only a constitutional amendment can — but that’s not what Paul is advocating.

U.S. Senator Rand Paul, a Tea Party favorite, is advocating for Congress to make a new law, a “personhood” law, called the LIfe at Conception Act,” establishing that human life begins at conception, and extending the 14th Amendment to all fetuses.

Name one other politician who has any plan, much less a Constitutional plan, to end abortion completely and publicly promotes it.

Why does he think his opinion of 2016 republicans matter?

It would hilarious watching the left go full blown bigot.

That'd be a rerun. They already do it every day, albeit usually against whites.

They must have something on Cruz if they are promoting him this early.

What do you mean? The left and establishment is attacking him early because it's absolutely clear to any seasoned political analyst that Cruz is the frontrunner for the nomination if the contest started today. They could destroy him with withering attacks over the next couple years unless us Cruz supporters get behind him and start defending and promoting him as much as they are attacking him. We should start his campaign early for the primary and the general and go in to the election season with guns already blazing.

Rand is an absolute libertarian as was Ron. Rand just tones it down a bit to sound more mainstream. He would be just as likely to let Iran get nukes as his dad was and Obama is.

Nope. I stay away from social liberals like Romney and libertards.

Ted Cruz is a great candidate, I hope he doesn’t mess it up by putting Rand on his ticket.

I believe Scott Walker should be his V.P. He seems to be a solid conservative and he brings experience as a governor to the table. Walker also might not be charismatic enough to win an election for president outright, but if Cruz is successful, he should be able to have established credibility to win at the top in 8 years.

I’ll bet little Jay Jay wet his pants when he said it. Americans are still out there working hard to stop fraudulent “elections” in this country. Once that happens, the commie ‘RATS are toast.

Leftists think this kind of snark is funny but with articulate guys like Cruz & Paul they’ll eat that snark on election night. Everyone by then will have known someone who has lost health insurance due to democrats.

Right and Mitt Romney was “severely conservative”.

I specifically cited his support for amnesty of foreign criminal invaders and the one-party socialist state that would create. So, of course, change the subject.
