Navy SEALs ordered to remove 'don’t tread on me' Navy Jack from uniforms
Daily Caller ^ | 11/1/13 | Carl Higbie

Posted on 11/01/2013 12:51:21 PM PDT by Nachum

The Navy Jack is the ‘don’t tread on me’ flag, one that has earned a revered place in America’s naval history and a beloved place in sailor’s hearts, through its use for over two centuries. This symbol of America’s naval ferocity has spanned our country’s entire existence, flying from the masts of the Continental Navy during the war of independence, to today’s War on Terror. In fact, an amendment to the Navy code called SECNAV Instruction 10520.6 clearly states that as of 31 May 2002 all ships are to fly the flag throughout the duration of the War on Terror.

So why would ranking SEAL commanders ban the historical symbol? Is the proverbial top bass banning the flag? Is President Obama?

Clearly the administration and sycophant “top brass” officers have degraded America’s military prestige; from hand-tying rules of engagement, to uniform regulations that make our military allegedly more compatible with foreign forces, to the banning of an awe-inspiring flag that traces its roots to the first U.S. Navy. We have a civilian-led military, but why should our ranking commanders be complicit in the administration’s war on it? Why don’t they stand up to Obama and his leftist cronies?

When was this order rescinded? Why? By whose order?

I might check and see if I can get a flag company to make one of those for me in a 3'X5'.
I can fly it on the opposite end of the deck from my Mad Jack Rackham Jolly Roger. :-)

Our Navy’s motto at its finest hour, the War of 1812.

Well it’s clear who’s treading all over our military these days. He can’t very well keep doing that and have them flying a flag that says otherwise.

I do think this means the Tea Party has successfully taken over the Gadsden flags (and now any flag with that same motto and symbolism) and WE OWN THEM.

Screw the rainbow flag. WE have the Gadsden flags.

The true patriots of this country love our historical flags and they mean the same for us today as they did back then. Let the fags fly their fruit flags.

We will know each other by the colors we fly, friend or foe.

Honestly if the RNC was smart, they’d adopt the Gadsden flag as their permanent Party flag. Or use it in every single ad and every single meeting and event, just pass em out to the crowd to wave around. Piss Obama off to no end.

I wouldn’t want Graham and McCain under it but they won’t be around forever.

Thanks for checking.

It’s nice to know we still have that... for now.

I personally think they should return to the pre-2002 tradition of having most USN ships fly the "standard" Naval Jack (basically just the Constellation from the US flag), reserving the First Naval Jack for the oldest active commissioned warship in the USN.

Which, setting aside the USS Constitution (in commission, but not considered an "active" combatant) and USS Pueblo (also in commission, but still a "guest" of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) is the LPD USS Denver (Commissioned in 1968)

Thanks for the image of the Navy Jack.

I will order my Navy Jack Flag from the Internet in the AM and fly it above my Gadsden Flag when it arrives.

BTW, my Gadsden Flag has been flying 24/7 since 1-20-13.

Both Flags “will be flying throughout the duration of Obama’s War on Americans,” as God is my witness.

Haven’t read the whole Reply thread to see if this point was made already, so please forgive my possible redundancy.

Should the unthinkable happen and CWII begins, exactly which flag will we salute?

Remember, if a Department of Education SWAT team comes down your street, they’ll be marching under the Stars and Stripes. Will you fly the same flag, as a patriot?

Wish I had a good answer to that one.

Yes. Thank you. I have been duly corrected and dressed down for my error by several knowledgeable Freepers.

I have also voluntarily signed up for a Naval terminology and flag etiquette course (only 80 hours of instruction) which commences this Thursday at 6:30 pm (or perhaps I should say 1800 hours).

Finally, to complete my punishment, I allowed myself to be [briefly] hung from a yardarm and lashed to the mizzen mast — although I drew the line at being keel-hauled, even under a 12’ dinghy.

;-)

Seriously, though. Thank you for the correction. I should have known better.

I have not flown the current, 50 star, U.S. flag since 1/19/09. I will not fly it again until the U.S. government is back in the hands of the U.S. People.

From 1/20/09 to the present day, I have flown the Revolutionary War era Grand Union flag on one of my flagpoles, with the Culpeper Minutemen flag below it; and the Navy Jack on the other flagpole with the Virginia flag below that.

I’m looking forward to once again being comfortable flying a modern, 50 star U.S. flag at my house - some day - but at this point, I think more than Obama leaving is going to have to occur before that will happen.
