I have been to many doctors and have never been asked if I own a gun.
I have.
That hardly indicates a blanket statement as to all doctors asking if you own a gun.

Just like 2012, only better...warehouses full of pre-filled ballots in addition to those storing uncounted ballots. 150-200% voter participation in major cities. And all the military ballots will be piled on the deck of a tramp steamer that sails to the center of the Bermuda Triangle.

I think we've seen the goalposts moved enough. Once this this monster is fully implemented I seriously doubt it can ever be repealed without bloodshed. Look at the western nations with socialized medicine. The Health Departments dominate the budgets. Military, infrastructure, and other legitimate functions of government all lose ground to the ever expanding Health Department. The Minister of Health is the big dog, eclipsing Defense or State in power and prestige. It can't be stopped.
It started years ago.
In my line of work, I type medical reports for doctors and hospitals across the US. About 15 years ago, I was contracting with a clinic out of NY. It was a pediatric clinic that used a questionnaire which included the question, “are there any guns in the home?”
Some replied with a “no,” but if they said, “yes,” they were subject to other questions.
This was dictated by doctor or nurse, typed by me, and became a part of the child’s record. I wondered, who is able to access this info?
I reiterate that out of 5 or so doctors I have seen since thene, none have asked. If this situation changes, so will my opinion.
To be clear, I don’t doubt intent.
Psychiatry has performed similar abuses here for years as has the rest of the medical profession. This is no new trend.
I have some friends with young kids. Will inquire for similar stories.
If you know any who would admit to taking certain Rx meds that could cause psychotic behavior, or who suffer with depression, etc., they’ve probably also been asked the same questions reguarding guns, especially if they admit to suicidal / homicidal ideation.
In that case I would disagree with what I presume is the majority opinion here. I don’t mind asking someone with homicidal tendencies if they have guns. They might not tell you the truth, anyway, so in the end it makes no difference.
For that matter, if a doc asks you if you have a gun, are you breaking a law if you lie or refuse to answer?
Why should we believe the GOPe that they are working on a long term strategy of giving the Marxists enough rope to hang themselves. It has been a total failure.
Whet we need is leadership that can motivate Americans to take back our sovereignty.
Cruz or someone else should call this out for the fraud it is.
Basically the establishment plan amounts to:
Hold the House and win the Senate in 2014
Wait until 2016 because Obama would veto any repeal and there won’t be enough votes to sustain it
Win the WH in 2016 while holding both houses
But wait...Even if that happens the dems will still have 40+ senate votes and will filibuster any attempt to repeal Obamacare
So, basically it amounts to saying wait until we have the House, 60+ in the Senate and the WH(and you probably need closer to 70 because you’ll always have McCain/Corker/Collins types who won’t vote for repeal)
Basically, it’ll never happen.
I didn’t mean to imply the docs were asking the question on behalf of the govt. I’m guessing they ask for a couple of reasons, concern for their patients (do no harm) and liability purposes.

The question in the right setting has been valid to this point, IMO, but we’re now heading into the slippery slope of obamacare where the doc will be having to report, for example, that the patient is on Xanax and owns a gun.

No law is broken for lying to your doc that I’m aware of. But if you’ve lied to the doc and something happens, he has it in his record that he asked the question - again, liability purposes.
Everything is about liability these days.
