Who else does Ted Cruz’s triumph help? [usual suspects alert]
NY Post ^ | September 26, 2013 | John Podhoretz

They confuse style with substance. Cruz and others think that standing your ground and fighting at every turn is actually more moral than working on a long-term strategy to get rid of ObamaCare.

That long-term strategy involves winning elections in 2014 and 2016. A budget fight in which the Right is blamed for shutting down the government will be harmful to these crucial goals.

The question is, why do Cruz & Co. despise Republicans and conservatives with whom they agree more than they do Democrats and liberals who are working tirelessly to impose these policies?

Snip to the bottom line.

That dog won't hunt. I am one of the "lesser of two evils" folks who voted for McCain and Romney (actually against Obama). I voted for Alexander and Corker, believing they would fight for my interests. I naively believed their smooth words. Their actions are a slap in my face.

"That long-term strategy involves winning elections in 2014 and 2016."

WAY too late.

Of course all of the campaign advisers will be richer, so something good there is.

That ship sunk in 2012.

Conservatives rightly despise the Kapos McConnell and McCain who will load us onto the cattle car of 0bamaCare.

We don’t win elections in 2014 and 2016 if we don’t stand for something different than the other party. 2012 was the election to get rid of Obamacare, and the consultancy class laid an egg. We have to stand up and demonstrate why the law is bad. Since Cruz started this campaign, the numbers have moved favorably in our direction. The feckless DC political class would be fine to sit back and react to public opinion rather than try to shape it.

John:

0bamaCare is literally Life Or Death.

You think the IRS, FBI, NSA, Benghazi scandals are coincidental?

No.

They will literally come kill you, John.

0bamaCare is already requiring doctors to ask enough of you to determine your political affiliation.

If you think they won’t use your conservative credentials to KILL YOU, you’re not paying attention.

Unbelievable. A lecture on how we need MORE "reaching across the aisle"? PodWhoretz conveniently ignores the fact that such "moral long-term strategy" has brought us to the brink of OC in the first place.

Podhoretz wants to make this about politics.

No.

They’re coming to kill you, John.

We can’t wait.

Cruz is on the barricades.

Where are you, John?

Herding conservatives onto cattle cars?

Stuff it John Podhoretz.

We’ve tried it your way for several election cycles now and all we have gotten is Obamacare, Obama, TARP, and a renewed push for Amnesty by you and your ilk.

Don’t piss on me and tell me it’s raining.

Cruz spoke directly to the base, energizing it like it hasn’t been in a long time. That’s going to matter in 2014. He also shined a light on the antics of Harry Reid in the Senate and raised the stakes on Democrats going along with Reid.

The next step in Cruz’s plan is CR’s from the House that fund important parts of the Federal Government. Some parts of the Government should no longer be funded in light of the prospect of a default. A default that would be so dire that the nation needs to have a conversation on what should be funded and what should not.

Never say never. The battle is just beginning. Do you’all really think that Cruz has no long-term plan?

So the way to defeat the Democrats is to roll over and play dead and let them pass everything they want? Wake up, Podhoretz: the President has claimed Imperial power, and the only check is refusing to pay for it. So your plan is to keep pushing the money his way?

Rove was blathering on Greta last night about how in the '95 shutdown, appropriations bills that had been passed allowed for necesary payments to be made. He said that the Senate already has a bunch of House passed bills languishing. Does the HR have to come up with more?

My email to McConnell

Senator,

After your showing in yesterday’s hearing, you have become the biggest asshat in congress. I will work tirelessly getting you primaried. You need to take your loose marbles back to Ky and give it up. Sen. Cruz showed what the Rebublican party will be.

Retire now and take your bennies and cushy healthcare and get lost. You have been a disgraceful Sen. Leader for a long time. Stuff it.

Sure.

Doctors have been asking whether you own guns. They will be required to ask about your sex life. The fact of a national database trough which your medical records must go gives the government the opportunity to cross reference your political affiliation with your medical care.

When Lois Lerner was to become the enforcer of tax compliance for 0bamacare, you get a pretty clear notion of where they are headed.

Care for their political allies, and death for their political opponenets.

“YOU REALLY DON’t qualify for that procedure, Mr.Conservative, because of this gray area where we exercise good judgement and kill you.”
