The GOP Civil War Just Exploded Messily Into The Public

Republican divisions over the party's strategy in budget battles exploded into the public sphere Wednesday evening. In feelings that have been brewing privately for some time, House Republicans let their anger out at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). And they accused him of surrendering on the plan to defund the Affordable Care Act (AKA: Obamacare). Earlier Wednesday, Cruz made a statement that applauded House Republicans for proposing a spending bill that strips funding for Obamacare, a crusade that Cruz and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) have led over the past few months. But Cruz also conceded that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid "has the votes" in the Senate to strip the defunding language from the continuing-resolution bill (meaning that the Senate could never pass the defunding bill). And he called on House Republicans to "stand firm, hold their ground, and continue to listen to the American people." In other words, he called on the House GOP to shoulder all of the burden of the defunding fight — the fight of which he has been the face. That concession, before the fight has even begun, enraged House conservatives. Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.) issued perhaps the most terse statement. "House Republicans have stood firm. We have voted to defund, repeal & delay Obamacare dozens of times. It is time for Sens. Cruz & Lee to show they can hold the line against Senate Democrats," Duffy said. "Let's hope they do not surrender before the fight even begins."

It isn’t it’s reality. We’re not going to win this thing in a single vote. That’s a fantasy. Cruz is right. He’s spot on. I say vote only to suspend Obamacare and state that the jobs picture and the economy cannot stand the shock of this expensive, confusing bill. Hold it up as the epitome of Democrat thinking.

We side with the little guy, the worker, the working family and all those suffering under the Obama economy. Give us the Senate and you’ll see a different America. You’ll see growth and liberty. That’s the smart way to go.

HEADS UP! This entire piece is lying horse manure!
‘Business Insider’ is a Democrat propaganda publication designed to pretend its something like Forbes, Investors Business Daily, and the Wall Street Journal. Don’t believe a word you read in ‘Business Insider’.

Thank you. That is all.

Was the Senate situation ever in doubt? Cruz was simply channeling Captain Obvious there.

Surely the House can stand firm on their original CR bill stripping Obamacare funding. Would we not expect the corrupt and untrustworthy Senate to take that action, in spite of the fact that many, many Democrats also want to get rid of Obamacare?

The fact is that the House has the truth and the people of the United States solidly behind them. If the Democrats want to further wreck the economy, let them take the blame. Maybe someday they will wake up to reality and their responsibility to fund the government and get rid of a destructive and counterproductive law that cannot be implemented as written.

The Republican Elitists and RINO’s cower and then beg for our votes and our donations and our time to work on their campaigns. I, for one, say no more. Let them go home in disgrace, ya think? You know their names by now. Look for the GOP smiling cowards and the senile ones and send them home in 2014 and 2016.

Explain to me how the Senate can ‘strip’ a house bill of the defunding language. Doesn't the House funding bill stand as a complete package to be voted up or down?

Because our party is healthy. Because we believe in our ideas and are willing to argue them in the public arena. Because we’re right.

Contrast that with the manipulative lies from Democrats and their media capons.

Perhaps a march on DC would help?

Unless you plan on burning it to the ground, I don't think Reid would give a damn.

I suggest that patriots march on Obama guard dog Fx News, although that would probably be difficult to do in NYC.

Note that Fx News has only once indicated that the states have never delegated to Congress the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for public healthcare purposes.

Judge Napolitano & the Constitution

I understand that Fx News has since put Judge Napolitano in the doghouse for being too honest about the unconstitutionally big federal government.

Thanks.

I just like Ted Cruz.

I don’t like the subject he’s using for focus right now, but I have seen Cruz out front where nobody else dares tread, and I respect him a whole lot.

I support him probably number two behind Palin (assuming she gets in), perhaps number one if she doesn’t.

Cruz has a lot going for him.

I think it unfortunate he’s fighting on this topic (while we’re de-industrializing America) but he seems to be about the only person willing to stand up front.

I’m for Cruz 100%.

Now about American jobs.

(hint, hint)

This is nothing we haven’t known all along. If they pass any bill the Senate will change it to what harry Reid wants.

Cruz is right in this and the republicans who cannot see that are either stupid or on the other side.

Both Lee and Cruz are saying that this is not over is a single shot.

Acknowledges Reid has 54 votes, and Lee and Cruz will fight to get the Senate Repubs to stand with the House Repubs and listen to the American people.

Say if we lose in Senate, it goes back to the House. It is in the House where this gets won or lost.

Asks for anyone who has signed the petition to get three friends to sign the petition.

Bills dealing with budgetary spending cannot be filibustered.

But that hasn’t stopped the Democrats from lying in saying the reason they didn’t pass a budget in several years was because of Republicans “filibustering” the bills.

GET THE DAMN FEDS OUT OF THE MEDICAL AND INSURANCE PROFESSIONS !!!!!!!!!

WE TAXPAYERS CANNOT AFFORD YOU DAMN PARASITE POLITICIANS !!!

_______________

The best way to fix a broken system is to SHUT IT DOWN, and THEN fix it.

Speaker Newt SHUT DOWN the US Federal Government in the 1990’s and it WORKED!

Clinton then took credit for balanced Federal Budgets, fewer people were in poverty, and all because Newt said NO !

The Liberal Agenda Media and the Democrats boo-hooed to this day, but Newt achieved success.

_____________________

The only way to force a spoiled brat to behave is to punish, punish, punish.

The worst punishment that a Democrat, or RINO can imagine is to take away their ability to spend our tax dollars.

The best way to do that is to shutdown the non-essential parts of the US Federal Government, starting with mothballing Air Force One.

______________________

Why not have the true Republicans require a BINDING, updated, “Federal Financial Impact Statement” for 2012-2013 fiscal year, and 2013-2014 f. y. for Obama”care?”

It should take a month or two to complete, allow for a vote to delay Obama”care” for a year, and then show the great financial harm to our Economy that the Statement’s numbers will document.

Wharton, Stanford, Michigan and Princeton could also file their independent Financial Impact Statements to compare to the Office of Budget and the Congressional Budget Office Financial Impact Statements.

As B. Hussein is fond of saying: “We need to get all the facts first.”

If the rules are followed then the House controls the purse strings.

Precisely. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what the House and Senate pass. The House has to approve all appropriations (funds) to be spent for budget items and legislation passed. This is the way it's ALWAYS BEEN!!

The House therefore can by itself, UNILATERALLY without the Senate Democrats consent decide to simply NOT FUND Obamacare by not appropriating the funds from the budget.

Period.

This isn't new, this is how our Congress has always worked. Some folks need a serious Civics lesson to re-learn these facts.

Boehner and the "Moderate RINO" pieces of shat would be a good start!

BTW: I like Ted Cruz, but I'd much prefer he simply bitch-slapped Boehner and the RINO's by reminding them of their CONSTITUTIONAL ROLE in our Government's FUNDING and SPENDING process. If there's a "teachable" moment in all this, THIS IS IT.

The Hou8se may well vote to strip out kenyacare funding. The Senate will restore the language. The Reconciliation conference will restore the language and both houses will then pass the CR with the funding intact. The Republicans will say, “Well, we tried,” which will be a lie. They will have tokened.
