Breaking: Majority Leader Cantor & Speaker Boehner Will Vote For Use of Military Force in Syria

Rep. Eric Cantor released a statement today supporting the use of military force in Syria and believes it is in our best interest to respond to the use of WMD.

From majorityleader.gov:

“I intend to vote to provide the President of the United States the option to use military force in Syria. While the authorizing language will likely change, the underlying reality will not. America has a compelling national security interest to prevent and respond to the use of weapons of mass destruction, especially by a terrorist state such as Syria, and to prevent further instability in a region of vital interest to the United States.

“Understanding that there are differing opinions on both sides of the aisle, it is up to President Obama to make the case to Congress and to the American people that this is the right course of action, and I hope he is successful in that endeavor.

“Bashar Assad’s Syria, a state sponsor of terrorism, is the epitome of a rogue state, and it has long posed a direct threat to American interests and to our partners. The ongoing civil war in Syria has enlarged this threat.

“The Syrian conflict is not merely a civil war; it is a sectarian proxy war that is exacerbating tensions throughout the Muslim world. It is clear Iran is a principal combatant in this conflict, and its direct involvement is an integral part of Iran’s bid to establish regional hegemony. Were Assad and his Iranian patrons to come out on top it would be a strategic victory for Iran, embolden Hizballah, and convince our allies that we cannot be trusted.

“Furthermore, sectarian tensions and extremist terrorism are already spilling over beyond Syria’s borders, with terrorist attacks and assassinations on the rise in neighboring countries. It is not just an abstract theory that the Syrian conflict threatens the stability of key American partners in the region. It is a reality.

“Beyond the obvious regional interests, a failure to adequately respond to the use of chemical weapons and compel the end of this conflict on terms beneficial to America and our partners only increases the likelihood of future WMD use by the regime, transfer to Hizballah, or acquisition by Al Qaeda. No one wants to be asking why we failed to act if the next time Sarin is used it is in the Paris or New York subway.

“The United States’ broader policy goal, as articulated by the President, is that Assad should go, and President Obama’s redline is consistent with that goal and with the goal of deterring the use of weapons of mass destruction. It is the type of redline virtually any American President would draw. Now America’s credibility is on the line. A failure to act when acting is in America’s interests and when a red line has been so clearly crossed will only weaken our ability to use diplomacy, economic pressure, and other non-lethal tools to remove Assad and deter Iran and other aggressors.

Today, House Speaker John Boehner also gave his support to the President’s plan saying, ”something the country needs to do.”

Seriously?

The problem - well, one of ‘em - with your statement that Cantor does this because he’s doing Israel’s bidding, is that Cantor couldn’t tell the difference between the correct pathway to Israel’s interests and a stupid hole in the ground.

Cantor is a few light bulbs short.

He truly is a bumbling idiot.

Israel’s interest does not lie with al-qaeda. Nor does it lie with Iran, who backs Syria. It lies with NEITHER.

It also does not lie with dumb “Americans” like Obama, Kerry, McCain, Graham, Boehner and Cantor mucking around in the M.E. poweder keg while having not a single clue what they are doing. Now many believe Obama has a purpose to inflate our enemies and hurt our friends. Possible, but he is also ignorant and its like Reagan said, it isn’t that Obama knows nothing, it’s that so much of what he knows, just isn’t true.

Worse than a cave in. It is betrayal.

Any US action that doesn’t:

1. Deprive both sides of access to Syrian WMDs

2. Equally injure both sides

3. Protect murdered minorities, especially Christians.

Is a prescription to put al Qaeda in control of Syria with access to WMDs and a free hand to engage in ethnic cleansing.

Not to be argumentative, but I see it a little different.

The illegals are here to swamp us. That’s what our elected officials want. They saturate us with people who don’t understand our system, and game them to oppose solid citizens.

The al Qaeda/Muslim Brotherhood types are brought over by normal legal immigration, and through pseudo ‘refugee’ situations, by manipulation.

They have swamped us with tens of millions of other people from foreign lands who don’t get our founding principles too. We have been swamped by this.

All of this is destructive.

No offense taken, My FRiend. We all have differing to one extent or another experiences and opinions. We, if we allow ourselves, benefit from the combined wisdom of the group.

Cmon xzins, so we're on the side of the Muslim Brotherhood again.

It worked so well in Egypt, I mean, what could go wrong here?

They aren’t stealth attacks — they spell out for everyone just exactly where they stand, which is 100 percent behind the muzzie takeover of Egypt.

That’s exactly the kind of thing Paultards criticize Zero, and GWB, and anyone who isn’t Rand or Ron — because supporters of Rand and Ron are pro-jihadist demagogues who get their policy positions from LewRockwell dot com.

Trying to hide behind a phony devotion to a part of the Constitution that doesn’t actually exist isn’t a compelling argument to real conservatives.

Hmmm. Here it seems like Bibi is saying that Syria is a client state of Iran and the world is watching what response will be given to Assad’s use of chemical weapons (please note Bibi has “no doubt” these attacks were launched by Assad/Hezbollah/Iran/Hitler.

Sounds like Bibi wants war to me...
