British MPs have voted against possible military action against Syria to deter the use of chemical weapons.

David Cameron said it was clear the British Parliament does not want action and "I will act accordingly".

The government motion was defeated 285 to 272, a majority of 13 votes.

Indeed Obama has snubbed and insulted our British allies from day 1.

It was but not a confidence vote by definition.

The last time there was a motion of no confidence was apparently in 1979! A good few years before I was born!

Normally, the threat of a leadership vote of no confidence as in what happened to Thatcher (causing her to resign) and was threatened of Blair, Brown and Cameron to varying degrees can cause a leader to resign or stand for their position.

Why isn’t congress being recalled to vote on this farce?

I have no answer to that question so I'm going to repeat it.

WHERE THE HELL IS CONGRESS?

He'll be dead when this is over and done with. They're just fighting over who gets to off him. I think he's in Iran right now. "Visiting."

Wow, the Brits really dealt some payback for his disses. Now, Barry looks like a total fool. He promised to act if Syria used chemical weapons, but has no backing from our allies and can't get a UN resolution. Betcha he couldn't even get a resolution through the Democrat Senate.

I know it's bad for America to have a President who looks this weak and foolish, but right now I'm enjoying a heapin' helpin' of Schadenfreude.

A couple of things. First off, kudos to Parliament. Second, methinks the guy sitting in the back of the room is getting the last laugh here on our arrogant POS president. Third, this guy is stupid enough and a marcicist enough to forge ahead anyway. If he does, he may get us involved in a WW over his arrogance and ego. Lastly, our steady as she goes Congress better take hold of this guy immediately and if they don’t, they better get the impeachment motions flying. I’d even be open to his excellency being brought up on international charges, after all, he has been rejected by the UN, a few allies like Britain, France and Germany already which seems to indicate why we have not heard anything from NATO on this matter. Public opinion for any action is below 10% too. What the hell is our Congress waiting for??

I got even money saying the reason the U.S. Senate is not debating this is because the know they don’t have the votes.

Congress is in hiding. The last thing in the world they want is to have to go on record for one side or the other. It’s one of the few things you could easily round up 430 votes for.

Does the guy sitting in the back of the room slouch? Because if he does, he's definitely getting a good belly laugh out of it. That's one time Obastard is going to regret shooting his mouth off.

Putin has been on point lately. I hardly think we are seeing a softer, gentler Putin. Instead we are seeing Putin stick it to Obama at every oppirtunity.

There was a time when our only friend in the Middle East was Israel. The other nations were aligned with the USSR. Obama has managed to realign the Middle East in a way that is reminescent of those times. The world was a much more dangerous place, the days of Mutual Assured Destruction

Obama has given the Russians a one up as far as nuclear weapons go. He dissed our oldest ally, Poland, and recently cancelled the final stage of a European missile defense system. A move which made the Russians do a happy dance, I might add.

Obama has not just made a mess of the Middle East. This has gone beyond the Arab Spring or keeping Islamic terrorism at bay.
This has global implications. If he does stumble us into WWIII, God help us all.

If it were ever put up for a vote in Congress, it would also be close. I bet the majority of Reps support some sort of military action.

John Donne said: "No Man Is An Island"

Obama figured it didn't apply to arrogant poofters like him.

I was agreeing with you right up until

Obama is made to look like a fool again on the world stage

He has a ready and waiting sycophant press with press stories of how great his statesmanship was. How he was able to resist the drum beat of war, didn't fall into the mistake the former president Bush did, etc. etc. The press will do interviews with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to prove it.
Someone will nominate him for another Nobel Peace Prize.
And it doesn't matter if Assad gasses 100,000 rebels.
