Sen. Rand Paul outlined his fears about President Obamas health care law on The Daily Show late Monday, arguing dinosaur syndrome has prevented well-intentioned authors of the law from crafting effective reforms.
Im afraid its going to be unaffordable and thats the real problem, the Kentucky Republican told John Oliver, interim host of The Daily Show in Jon Stewarts absence. Im afraid that everyone will pay a lot more for insurance. And I think precisely the people it was intended to help it may well hurt, because they may not be able to afford it.
Mr. Paul, a potential presidential contender in 2016, said Mr. Obama mandated insurance providers to cover so many things that costs will inevitably rise. While the authors of the law might have had good intentions, he said, the law will have negative consequences.
I call it the dinosaur syndrome, Mr. Paul said. We have a lot of politicians who have really small brains and really big hearts. And they want to do whats right, but I dont think its going to work.
Mr. Paul had a little fun with the temporary host, noting they have special coverage for mental illnesses in Mr. Olivers home country of Great Britain.

Senator Paul is being very generous.
Yet, the Republican still chose him as their presidential nominee.
Yep!
WAY too generous.
They do have small brains.. but their hearts aren’t big. They have evil in their hearts.
They are absolutely evil people and they must be stopped.
He’s hitting where it hurts, giving them the benefit of a doubt (”big hearts”), and exposing the insanity of this law.
That toon reminds me of my old tagline;
“Don’t touch that thing! Don’t let anybody tough that thing! I’m a doctor, and I won’t touch that thing!”
No Rand, that is not the problem.
The problem is that the gubmint has no freaking business in our health care, PERIOD!!
SHUT IT DOWN!!
I am liking this person more and more everyday.
It is cruel to give ignorant people health care.
Me too, so I'm changing mine back.
Even smaller brains in those who passed it so they could find out what was in it, but didn’t take the time to read it.
The amnesty bill will have the same kinds of ‘surprises’ in it. The Senate version was some 1000 pages and then they added a 900 page amendment. Wonder how many Senators actually read it?
Hey, that’s insulting to people with really small brains!
The real problem is that Obamacare was designed to be so horrible, so convoluted, so expensive, so intrusive, that everyone including most the idiots on the Left will finally beg for mercy. Then, Sahib Obama can save us all by offering a much simpler streamlined single payer system with no worries at all... No insurance companies to bother with...just relax and everything will be okay - the Govt. is here to take care of everybody. It’s all hiding in plain sight.
If anyone doesn’t know by now that the Govt. & the big Employers are in cahoots & not working in your best interests, there’s no hope for you. Neither have any business in our health care. We are going 180 degrees in the opposite direction of where we should be going to save our country and our medical services.
The authors brains dwarf the GOP’s cojones.
Not being affordable isn’t the real problem. The real problem is the tyranny of it and the death panels hidden therein.
Too generous, but Pelosi claimed to be the leader of the group that put it together, so he knows the target.
I like how he tweaks them even if I’m not a big fan
