Iowa Poll: Hillary Clinton, Chris Christie Tied (41-41%)

Hillary Clinton and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie are running neck-and-neck in a potential 2016 presidential match-up in Iowa, according to a new poll Monday.

Each was supported by 41 percent of voters in Iowa surveyed in the Quinnipiac poll. In a match-up with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Clinton was on top, 46 percent to 39 percent. Vice President Joe Biden trailed both Christie and Walker, 32 percent to 49 percent for Christie and 39 percent to 42 percent for Walker.

The poll also found that President Barack Obama’s disapproval rating was at 55 percent, and only 40 percent of voters approved of the job he is doing. That’s a five point increase in disapproval since a May poll, and one of Obama’s lowest approval ratings in any of the states Quinnipiac surveys, the polling institute said.

Obama’s disapproval was also high among independent voters, an important constituency in the heavily independent state. Voters who identified as independent disapproved of the job the president is doing 59 percent to 37 percent. That’s up 6 points from the 53 percent of independents who disapproved in May.

While Iowa voters have a favorable opinion of Clinton, 52 percent to 41 percent, Biden is viewed unfavorably, 47 percent to 38 percent.

Quinnipiac surveyed 1,256 registered voters by phone from July 15-17 for the poll, which has an error margin of plus-minus 2.8 percentage points.

I can’t fathom why someone would expect Christie to not poll better than anyone else right now.

He has by far the best name recognition of anyone in the poll, has had the least unfavorable media coverage, and for the broad majority of the population, has the least people that actively hate him.

That makes perfect sense. Chris Christie recently stated that he agrees with the liberal NY Governor Andrew Cuomo on 98% of the issues. I've no doubt that Hillary likewise agrees with Andrew Cuomo, so the polling between Hillary and Christie should be a tie since they believe in almost exactly the same things.

But in a year the media will squawk that conservatives like Cruz or Paul aren’t well known to the voters and will likely lose. And wonder what those guys did wrong.

The first conservative who ever tells independent primary voters to purposely shun the brainwashing MSM, and totally think for themselves, will win.

Chances are one or both will die of a heart attack or stroke.

This is what you call political rope-a-dope... ya hang a piece of bait out there for the RINOs and say, see you guys have a fighting chance if you pick Chris Christie to be you candidate... Of course, the RINOs bite at it every time...

I haven't watched him very close, but I am thinking John Kasich will surprise many by getting into the presidential race. I'd love to at least win Ohio again. That was a pretty reliable state for a short while.

We need a republican governor, but one from a state where the candidate does not have to lean left to get elected.

I am not saying Kasich will be the best option, but honestly.... we don't have many to select from any more.

I'm no fan of Christy at all.....but that picture of Hildebeast is ONE FAT ASS, FAT FACE, BUTT ASS OOOOOOGLY!!!

For left-wing demTurds & socialists (especially the women), none of them age gracefully. I believe that all the bile & hatred & lies & deception just boils up within them, and is projected in their horrible facial expressions in their later years.

Are you sure he didn't switch parties?

It's so hard to tell these days, the parties are so similar.
