Yea right. Pet food is more expensive than buying a can of tuna and loaf of bread or some ramen noodles. Maybe they should stop selling their food stamps for drug, cigarette, and alcohol money and the wouldn’t run out so easily. And trust me I’m talking about white trash people too on food stamps who sell will offer to buy a neighbor 150 dollars worth of groceries for 100 dollars in cash. Saving the neighbor or friend 50 dollars and providing the food stamp card holder some cash to buy “other” things.

So?
What did they spend their food stamps on? What were their priorities for their remaining case (The “S” in SNAP is Supplemental).
Did they ask anybody else for help? (I’m a softie. Tell me you’re hungry, if I have any money left on my bank card, you’ll get meal - even if I don’t eat.)

Their needs (and bad choices) doesn’t constitute an obligation on the taxpayers.

I feed my dog Purina Pro Plan - it's the only thing he's ever eaten and I can highly recommend it!

Exactly. Our local paper has these sob stories about single moms just getting by (and they always find one who has at least a part-time job or who is ill.. supposedly). Nobody asks them where dad or dads are or why they had kids they knew they couldn’t afford to raise. Or why the older kids don’t have jobs.

The old Democrat ‘seniors eating dog food’ routine. Big fat lie since food stamps do not ‘run out’.,

I wonder if Representative Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) has bought any dog food recently.
Ounce for ounce it is higher priced than damn near any people food in the super market.

10 pounds of rice - 5 dollars
10 pounds of beans 5 dollars

And 10 pounds of dog food is approximately $10. If her constituents are eating dog food, it’s because they choose to. She’s lying. Democrats are such drama-queens.

What? Dog food is expensive! Potted meat is much cheaper. Why are they buying dog food instead of people food? If it’s because they have dogs, then maybe consider it’s another mouth to feed and you can’t afford it if you can’t afford to feed yourself?

Oh I know how valuable pets are to their owners, so don’t anyone bust my chops... My children have begged for a dog and the reason we haven’t gotten one is because we can’t afford to take care of one. Lay offs and such
plus Obama economy and things are really tight and you have to get your priorities straight. We feed humans first.

It's a lie. Check out the price of dog food. A can of dog food costs more than a can of soup. This is crap put out by people who eat too many meals in nice restaurants but like to pretend they're still ‘connected’ to the little people.

I feed my German shepherds boneless chicken breast at $2.00 per pound, cheaper than canned found at $2.50 per can and is more nutritious.

And if they would eat vegetables and rice, I would feed that instead of expensive dry dog food and save more money.

article is B.S. with a capital B. No one starving in this country unless they are too lazy or ignorant to go to a local church or food pantry for free food. And dog food IS more expensive then beans, rice and pasta. But since those people are too ignorant to get their free food at the pantries i guess they are ignorant enough to pay top dollar for dog food. Just more lies from the nasty a** creepy Pee-Bagger party in the white house.

It isn’t just the welfare cheats on food stamps. A local librarian told me an elderly white man who appeared to be about 75 years old came into the library last week and asked if they had applications for food stamps. She printed out the application and helped him fill it out, then directed him to Social Services. He was clearly embarrassed to be applying for assistance but said he had gone through his savings, couldn’t get anyone to hire him, and had no other way to feed himself and his wife as social security by itself was not enough.

Likely this gentleman’s savings would have lasted had Greenspan and Bernanke not pursued the low interest rate strategy of the past decade to prop up the housing market and the big banks at the expense of elderly savers dependent on interest income to live. When we disparage the elderly poor for being on public assistance we shouldn’t forget the big banks and multinational corporations receiving subsidies from the federal government and Federal Reserve while paying their executives millions in bonuses. Think Archer Daniels Midland, Solyndra, Cargill, and all of the ethanol producers not to mention the megabanks bailed out during the financial crisis and still propped up by the Federal Reserve. Think companies that go to local government for tax incentives or grants to build a factory in the community.

Government welfare benefits the wealthy as well as the poor. Sorry, but in my view the Chairman of Goldman Sachs, being paid millions in bonuses the year after he went begging to the government for a bailout, is as much a welfare chiseler as a fourth generation ghetto dweller talking on an Obamaphone.

I don’t *think* you can use food stamps @ McDonalds.

The food stamp allotment is set at an amount to provide proper nutrition for each person in the household for a month. They might have to learn how to shop properly and plan meals for that period of time but there is no good reason to be turning to dog food by the end or middle of the month.
