You can give some people a thousand dollars of food stamps a month and they wouldn’t be able to feed themselves.

Such people need help- not food stamps.

I know a lot of users of food stamps and the benefit is very, very generous for a responsible person. About twice what they need.
But never enough for the irresponsible or incapable.

This recipe costs less than .25 per cup..

IRISH SPLIT PEA SOUP

Loving a great pea soup isn’t something new, or being Irish.. Split pea soup has been eaten by many different cultures for thousands of years, with record of the dish being made and sold by street vendors in Greek and Roman society as early as 500 to 400 B.C…

Making split pea soup starts with soaking the peas before cooking. Dried peas should be placed in a large pot, covered with water, and allowed to sit and soak for several hours or overnight. Soaking peas does help to eliminate some of the cooking time for split pea soup and ensures that the peas will reach the desired softness…

While some people prefer to eat their split pea soup without blending, others like to make their split pea soup completely smooth after cooking by using an immersion blender to puree the soup…

Ingredients
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 whole Onion, Chopped
1 cup Carrots, Chopped
3 cloves Garlic, Minced (use Less to Taste)
1 package Split Peas (1 Pound Bag, Rinsed and Picked Over)
1 pound Smoked Ham Hocks (2 Or 3 Hocks - Or Substitute Ham Bone)
3 cans Chicken Broth (14 Ounce Cans)
3 whole Bay Leaves
2 whole Russet Potatoes, Scrubbed and Cubed

Preparation
In a large Dutch oven, heat olive oil until hot. Add onions, carrots, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until onions begin to turn translucent, about 5 minutes…

Add split peas, ham hocks, broth, and bay leaves. Add enough water to cover ham hocks. Bring to a boil, then turn heat to medium and simmer about 45 minutes, or until peas are almost soft, adding water as needed…

Remove ham hocks, allow to cool. When cool enough to handle, remove meat from ham hocks and return to pan. Check seasoning, add salt & pepper as needed. Add potatoes to the pot and add water if needed. Return to a boil, and then reduce heat to medium and simmer for an additional 30-45 minutes, until potatoes are soft and peas are broken down. Remove bay leaves.

Optional (but highly recommended) step: Pour half the soup into blender or food processor and puree. Add pureed mixture back into pot, stir to combine. The idea here is to make this soup thick, so puree as much or as little as you like. I happen to like it thick with small chunks of vegetables little as you like. I happen to like it thick with small chunks of vegetables throughout…

Check once again for seasoning, adjust as needed. Bring to serving temperature.

A great feature of this soup is that it freezes well. You may need to add a little water to bring it to the proper consistency.

Some of her Constituents are dogs... democrats vote multiple times...
Vote their dog, cat, bird, snake, lizard.. dead gramma, whatever comes to mind..

Many dogs and other pets voted for Barry HAlf-White..
and most democrat members of congress..

The girl opened up Pandoras dog house..
WHY Not??.. some States do not require a valid ID to vote..
Mickey, Speedy Gonzales, and Mighty Mouse can vote there..

And official republicans could CARE LESS...
SOoo why not.. nobody with any official capacity even CARES...
You’d think conservatives would RIOT.!... but they be afraid..

I used to be a republican but the craven cowardice of them disgusted me....
Its amazing the cowardice with hubris of it all..
At least democrats are not afraid to raise hell when their treason is ignored..

They may be crazy as Moonbats but they are not cowards..
They will burn a city down if their LIES are ignored..

People that know the truth are craven in their cowardice..
Beneath contempt.. not worthy of even hating them..
Civil war is a fantasy UNLESS democrats do it..

Politics is an internet game to conservatives..
A mental exercise.. BLOOD scares them even more..

Some people feed their dogs pretty pricey dog food that is probably better than the crap they buy in a microwaveable box anyway.

The magic words:

Pasta rules.

And at 65 cents per dry pound, which turns into 2 lbs of food, it just cannot be beat. I eat it all the time.

Why? In my experience, the cheapest human foods are substantially cheaper than the cheapest pet food.

Why do you think Alpo and Ken-L-Ration lobbied for the program?

I'm issuing a BULLCRAP warning!

1. You cannot buy dog food with food stamps - food stamp recipients routinely purchase steak for their dogs because of this.

2. If you have the extra cash for dog food, then why not purchase human food with it? At Sam's Club, a can of Chef Boy-ar-dee Beef Ravioli or Campbell's SpaghettiO's with Meatballs is 80¢, a can of Alpo is 62¢. You mean to say that you can't afford the 18¢???

3. A poor single elderly person is eligible for $200 a month in Food Stamps. I fed myself and my three daughters on $200 a month, when that's all we had, and we ate good.

Again, I say BULLCRAP

Today, July 15, at a Bravo Supermarket in Miramar, Florida, for example, a can of Alpo Prime Cuts dog food is on sale for 89 cents. Conversely, Bravo Brand vegetables are on sale for 68 cents a can; 16 oz. packages of Goya pasta are 78 cents; and bananas are 33 cents a pound.

It's nice to see my own observations noted in the press, even if it is just CNS. When we had dogs, my wife and I bought Pedigree by the case, and dog food is expensive!

If fewer people were on food stamps, wouldn’t the program be able to fund those who are on it a bit longer?

These people, for the most part, don’t know how to cook, and don’t want to. The food they buy is pre-packaged, pre-cooked, and requires no effort besides pushing some buttons on a microwave.
And, it’s expensive.
