Sen. John McCain, who built a potent political career on his record as a Vietnam veteran and ex-prisoner of war, on Tuesday told the leaders of every military branch he cannot in good conscience advise women to join the service as the military grapples to contain and curb its sexual assault epidemic.
"Just last night, a woman came to me and said her daughter wanted to join the military and could I give my unqualified support for her doing so. I could not," McCain, an Arizona Republican, said during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing examining whether all serious sexual crimes should be removed from the chain of command.
"At its core, this is an issue about defending basic human rights but it's also a long-term threat to the strength of our military. We have to ask ourselves: if left uncorrected, what impact will this problem have on recruitment and retention of qualified men and women?" McCain asked. "I cannot overstate my disgust and disappointment over continued reports of sexual misconduct in our military. Weve been talking about this issue for years and talk is insufficient."(continued)

At risk of being flamed, they should not be in combat billets anyway or in confined duty stations such as submarines etc...
I am just a bit old fashioned or antiquated which ever moniker you prefer to apply
Who is sticking a microphone in front of the addle-brained jackass every single day?
Hmmm ... sexual problems in the military. I’m thinking these cases were very few and far between when we had a hetero male only armed forces.
This man is in dire need of being sent to a mental facility or an old-folks home. Obviously he is not mentally fit to work as a janitor in the Senate Office building, must less as a representative of the State of Arizona.
And McCain should avoid breathing until his low IQ problem is resolved.
(Not that I encourage sexual misconduct...I just hate, loathe, despise, and f*rt in the general direction of this dork. There was a reason he was bottom of his class at Annapolis.)
Poor officer candidates should stop piloting planes until they stop crashing.
We should have refused to take him back when the NV released him.
Does McCain ever shut his PIE HOLE? Why does he feel like he always has to insert his opinion in EVERY matter? Does he have a mental illness that requires him to feel important and valuable because internally he feels inadequate?
Shut up already and pay attention to Arizona and the people in that state who foisted you on the rest of us!
Much like “Animal House”, the Navy had little choice; he was a legacy. I witnessed others like him but none as completely reprehensible as he is.
A notorious p-hound, too, from what I've read about the man.
Men should be the ones avoiding service, they’re the most likely to be raped.
My retired navy officer father was just in here talking about this.
In the hundreds if not thousands of sailors and discipline cases he handled over the years starting in Korea, he never saw a single sexual assault or harassment case. Was never an issue.
There isn't a media camera he doesn't love, either.
This guy is some type of psychiatric case....haven't figure out which kind yet.
Maybe all of them.

Those of us who don’t want women in the military need to come out of the closet. I’m sick of being intimidated about this subject by my fellow freepers, libs, feminists and all their running dogs. This is a horrible social experiment gone wrong and everyone who is honest knows it.
And so should men John.
As for McSane, my advice is to ignore him until he cannot be heard anymore. Think about it...
Well if they all follow McCain's advice then the problem will take care of itself, won't it?
