It will be torn apart by Heritage and immigration groups like NumbersUSA and the Center for Immigration Studies. I agree that the MSM will be pushing hard for amnesty and so will the GOPe. The problem will be getting the information to the public. FOX is a lost cause on the issue.

Yep. The Stupid Party has become the Surrender Party.

They're going to be the Suicide Party if they don't buck up.

Polls are cooked.

Americans do NOT want any form of amnesty.

CBS Face The Nation - shows Manchin’s emotional interchange with the Newton families. It IS very sad. Why was it being videotaped, though?

I am beyond sick seeing the Newtown commercials urging us to urge Congress to pass their bill. I am beyond sick having these people in their grief being used and trying to make us give up our rights to somehow atone for their loss. It will not bring their precious children back. Denying others the right to protect their own children is WRONG.

Until you close the border there is no point in talking about immigration reform.

Table 6 shows that the overall high welfare use rate for immigrant households with children is not simply due to legal status. Both legal and illegal immigrants tend to make use of the welfare system. Illegal immigrant households with children primarily use food assistance and Medicaid, making almost no use of cash and housing programs. In contrast, legal immigrant households with children tend to have relatively high use for every type of program. In addition to legal status, Table 6 also reports welfare use for different types of legal and illegal households. The Department of Homeland Security estimates that more than half of all illegal immigrants come from Mexico.22 The table shows that households with children headed by Mexican illegal immigrants tend to have somewhat higher welfare use rates than do illegal immigrant households with children from all countries. As for legal immigrants, Table 6 shows that the inclusion of refugee-sending countries in the data does not make much difference to overall welfare use rates for legal immigrant households with children. Use rates for households headed by legal immigrants from non-refugee-sending countries are very similar to those for legal immigrant households when refugees are included. Refugee-sending countries are a small share of the total and, as we have seen, their use rates are not different enough from non-refugees to impact the overall results in a meaningful way.

Rubio is on Face The Nation and for the 4th time this morning says what he and the Gofeight is proposing in NOT amnesty. I’ve seen enough of Rubio this morning. Oversaturation. He’s lost a lot of cred with conservatives, IMO.

As far as getting the info to the people - yes, it will be difficult. Hopefully, Drudge highlights the lowlights of the bill.

"Exactly so, and I always call them homosexuals. I refuse to buy into “gay.” Gay means “merry.”"

Right on point, Onyx, right on point. Thank you! Even Rush Limbaugh has been brainwashed and converted to calling them "gay" rather than homosexuals.

Any legislation that allows the lawbreakers to stay and work here, .. Giving them green cards ...

Either I am confused or Rubio is confused. He says e-verify will be mandatory and that illegals have to wait at least 5 years to get a Green Card but...they have to be gainfully employed for that 5 years. How does this happen Marco? How can you be gainfully employed for 5 years without the Green Card? Political doublespeak?

How much of our hard-earned dollars are going to "help" these new citizens? How much for welfare, medicaid, or hidden "benefits" like the one in the article linked below. It's like this government's goal is to finish us off, break the bank.

Here's another gimmee once they're legal:

Words have meanings. The Democrats and the mainstream media have hijacked the language surrounding the immigration issue to the point that we had Michael Chertoff, the Secretary of Homeland Security and our nation’s top immigration official at the time, testifying before Congress using the term “undocumented workers” to describe illegal aliens.

John McCain and Barack Obama studiously avoided the term “amnesty” to describe their comprehensive immigration reform plans and despite the evidence, baldly declared that it was not an amnesty. Instead, they used such euphemisms as “getting to the back of the line,” “an earned path to citizenship,” "paying a fine and learning English," and “coming out of the shadows.” The Democrats and pro-amnesty crowd know full well that the American people are against amnesty, hence the avoidance of the “A” word. Conservatives need to develop their own immigration lexicon that cuts through this Orwellian use of language.

What disturbs me about Rubio is his buying into the lie that this is not an amnesty. He also knows full well that no matter what is passed, it will have to be enforced by Obama and then Hillary.

And the Dems will use this bill as ammunition against the Reps even it is passed. They will tell Hispanics that it was the mean old Reps who don't want them to have citizenship immediately or are trying to deport them because they don't have a job. We had an amnesty in 1986 without enforcement. Why not just try enforcement only this time? Why the push for legalization?

And Schumer's argument that legalizing the lawbreakers will not lower wages is full of holes. What makes the illegal worker so attractive? Of course it is lower wages and off the ledger employment with no federal taxes. Amnesty will just create another underground labor market that will attract more illegals to this country who will replace those who have been legalized.

Rubio is just using some focus group language. He knows full well that the "temporary" legalization includes a work permit. These people will be paying into Medicare and SS. They will be entitled to the benefits of these programs. And they will get other benefits thru their US born children.

We are not enforcing now the prohibition that you must be here five years on a green card before being eligible for benefits. And exactly how will you deport people who don't have a job? The enforcement of these "rules" will be virtually impossible. Hell, we can't even rein in fraud in Medicare, Medicaid, and food stamps.

How will those "temporarily" legalized receive healthcare? Will IRS force them to pay penalties for not buying health insurance? Will their children be ineligible for Medicaid and the CHIPS program? Will they be ineligible for Obamacare subsidies and the use of exchanges to buy health insurance? More than half of the illegal aliens lack even a high school degree. They will be takers not givers when it comes to services received versus taxes paid. Will they receive EITC?

Simply not true.

I am missing something. What in my statement was untrue?

Byrd stopped the amnesty bill in 2002. Bush and his cohorts tried several more times later. Bush even said the morning after the 2006 turn over of leadership in the House and Senate (to the Dems) that he 'now had a Congress he would work with' on comprehensive immigration. An additional attempt also failed. IIRC, there were a total of 4 attempts while GW was president.

Rubio isn't confused. On FNS, the more he tried to explain, the faster he talked. Typical of someone who is spouting muddled truths (lies) in hopes that the listener doesn't actually 'hear' what he is saying.

Like McCain, Bush, and the many others before, they are wanting to 'regularize' illegals but not call it amnesty.

It is word games and shell games. Rubio isn't confused. He bought into the McCain-Graham gang hook, line, and sinker.

Under GW Bush, one amnesty attempt was started, but got derailed by the 9-11-01 attacks.

There was more than just one attempt and the most serious one was Hagel-Martinez (S 2611) that passed the Senate 62-36 on May 25, 2006. There were 23 Reps who joined with the Dems to pass the bill. Rove tried to pressure Sensenbrenner in the House who refused to go along. The Reps still controlled Congress in 2006. When the Dems took over in January 2007 this just opened the way for McCain-Kennedy, essentially a replay of Hagel-Martinez. But it didn't progress very far thanks to a public outcry and the way McCain and Kennedy tried to steamroller the bill without hearings or any ability to change it.

I have no doubt that the Senate will pass the Gang of 8 Rubio-Schumer bill this time. And I don't think that Boehner will try to stop a vote on the bill. He has his own gang in the House working on a similar bill. The fix appears to be in unless we can mobilize the public once again to stop it.

To: who knows what evil?
I think we should be able to walk into Woolworth's and buy a gun right off the rack without ANY restrictions...just like the good old days. We had rifles in out school lockerswhen I was a kid...in Schumer's NEW YORK!!! Where was the carnage?

I have not heard one single detail being proposed that would seek to limit that design and sale of violent video games and/or movies. This is not a DEBATE - it is another jamdown job by the Corruptocrats and what outrages me the most is RINO Boner who proclaimed loud and clear last week that he don't need no stinkn' Republicans to pass gun control legislation ( - "....what are you waiting for Harry?").

Not one cent to any Republicans for national office. Never again. Hopefully I can move on to the next phase before the GOP goes the way of the Whigs.

Ahhh!

You did NOT read my FULL post. You only read the first line. That line was to show that a Democrat (Senator Byrd) stopped the ‘first’ amnesty.

My post continued: there were other attempts under Bush.
