You did NOT read my FULL post. You only read the first line. That line was to show that a Democrat (Senator Byrd) stopped the ‘first’ amnesty.
My post continued: there were other attempts under Bush.
I did read your FULL post, which is why I included it in my post.
And to be precise, you said "the efforts were renewed several more times during the Bush years." You did not say attempts, which would have been more correct. What was done in 2006 was far more than an effort. It was a real piece of legislation unlike what happened earlier.
