“(God bless gay marriage, by the way—maybe FINALLY someone will bring some taste and style to the costuming of this silly ritual).”

From one of her other blog posts. This chick is more messed up than her kid.

Nice of WP to pick some obscure blog to divert attention and add to the confusion.

There are evil people in this world.

Some of them are very young.

It would be wise to defend yourself against them by arming and preparing for their inevitable assault.

It would not be wise to disarm.

Americans are under no obligation whatsoever to disarm.

Does she realize what she is doing to her other children by having him in the house?

Several weeks ago, The New York Times Magazine section ran a brilliant article on child psychopaths/sociopaths and the research that scientists, doctors and psychoanalysts are doing on them. They are trying to help them when they are very, very young to curb them from a life of violence.

In the article, there was no one mention of guns. But in today's NYTs, it's all about guns, guns, guns. Major disconnect at that newspaper.

Why would you appoint Bill Clinton (who arguably has his own mental health issues) Czar of Mental Health? That’s just about the most worthless suggestion I’ve heard in this whold debacle.

Can’t we just pass a law that bans mental illness?

Going to have to institutionalize some people. I know of a woman in Austin who called me about business on the phone. It became apparent very quickly that she was unstable to the max. Ended up in a three-way on the phone with the woman, her mom and myself. She told her mom that she the daugher) was"...God, you're not God." and some other things which I will not detail here, but would make the hair on the back of your neck stand up if you heard her say it the way she said it.

Told me her name was which was one name and after she removed herself from the call, her mom told me her real name was something else and that was just one personality she had adopted recently. Mom's tried to get her committed, but can't because the daughter is adult age and has to commit herself.

She is living in the general population, is a severe drug addict according to mom and is going to hurt/kill someone or herself before too long and the police department where she lives, although notified, can do nothing about it. Welcome to the United States of Stupid America.

In the olden days (when I was a kid) a youn boy who acted like this would be spanked in public by any nearest parent

And most of the times I learned my lesson - and stopped doing it

A few weeks ago, Michael pulled a knife and threatened to kill me and then himself after I asked him to return his overdue library books.

There was a good reason our ancestors built their houses with secure attic or basement rooms.

Then why in hell didn’t she have her guns locked up where the kid could not get to them, knowing how unstable he was and has been for along time???

This story is about a mother, who is not Adam Lanza’s mother, who has a hard time with her defiant kid.

WOW! That woman is a powerful writer! (I also read her blurb about her Vietnam vet Marine helicopter pilot father.)

And she is dead on target that the elimination of treatment centers for mental health (aka "insane asylums") is the root cause of tragedies like the Newtown massacre -- not inanimate objects like guns.

The first problem is divorce and males being raised without any male influence in the household. Sometimes it works out okay, and other times it doesn’t, but it is never the ideal situation for young males. The next problem is a society that dodges the divorce dilemma by drugging young males in an attempt to control them. It is cheaper for schools to drug young males with prozac than it is for them to beef up security to avoid what just happened in Connecticut. And, of course, it is easier for politicians to demand gun control than it is for them to recognize the cultural nightmare that is going on. People need guns to defend themselves and their families from it.

You’re being set up.

Aurora, Colo., a mostly quiet suburb east of Denver, is known for its middle class neighborhoods, sprawling area high schools and low violent crime rate, making it one of the safest places in the US to raise a family, according to national crime statistics.

A bright kid. Bright boys with no adult male to guide them. This is a problem that is hundreds of years old. Read the story of Iccarus and Daedalus. It’s an allegory. Iccarus flies too high (seeks too much knowledge) and is killed. His father warned him. The bright ones see more horror and they have no one to help them deal with it. There is an old saying that there’s a fine line between genius and insanity, and it’s true. Bright young men see further and they see pain and suffering and without a strong male to guide them, they become frustrated. They also have all those teenage hormones and the energy of youth. In many ways, it’s the same problems and concerns we all see, but for them it’s more intense.

Wow. Imagine living in fear of the next time your kid snaps. Her younger children have a drill that when this 13 yr old snaps, they lock themselves in the car. I couldn’t live like that.

I have a feeling that no amount of grounding or medications is going to help her stay safe from this kid as he grows bigger in height and weight.

She was advised that he needs to be charged with a crime in order to create a “paper trail” in the system. That must be comforting to her.
