The “right” to healthcare does not require a doctor to work for free
Med City News ^ | 11-23-12 | Kevin Smith MD

After the election, a lot of people are excited that they can now get healthcare. Or maybe not quite yet, but by 2014, when ObamaCare is fully implemented.

The only problem is that healthcare is not like an Obama phone. The phones are all made by a standard process in a factory, probably in China, and they usually work.

You can use them to call a healthcare provider. But you usually get the ’if this is an emergency, hang up and dial 911,’ followed by the phone menu.

How will this change with ObamaCare? Doesn’t that give you a right to care?

Whenever someone tells me about the “right” to healthcare, I ask, “From whom? From me?” This question exposes this “right” for the robbery and slavery that it is. Take it to the next step. Do you really want to exercise your “right” to healthcare on a physician who doesn’t want any part of this bargain? What kind of care do you think you’ll receive?

I can hardly wait for hussein to sign an executive order forcing these docs to work for nothing and claim it is for the general welfare that the Constitution “provides” for.

At that point surgeons will began injuring their hands in cooking fires or other home accidents. Other medical practitioners will fall from ladders and receive debilitating head injuries.

Heavily subsidized sure... with a debt that can’t even be bankrupted away. What gave that nut any better right than the doc. And as for everyone being satisfied making less money, bet if that nut is in a union the nut isn’t going along with that.

I am working on my exit strategy and will be out of medical practice as woo as I feasibly can. I cannot be forced to work for the government healthcare system and will not. Period.

Please do it quickly and hide your tracks. I fear they may soon come after you for abjuring your so-called "obligation to the public welfare."

woo=>soon ?

Anyhow, there may be more business for concierge docs who, so far, are still outside the Bummercare system. Have you thought of that?

and a nose dive in their life expectancy.

This concerns me the most, as I will be a sexagenarian in a few months. By the time I have a major health crisis, the bureaucrats will be ready to yank the plug.

Woo = soon. Was posting from my iPhone and must have run into auto correct. I am a hospitalist not primary care, so concierge is not an option. However I look for the govt to outlaw concierge practices soon anyway.

Let them come. I am not going to hide in what is still (for now) a free country. When it is required I will proudly stand for freedom and for Christ no matter what the consequences.

Ah, the market will look for a way. Maybe hospitals and clinics in Canada and Mexico, geared strictly to foreigners: Visa, Amex, Master Card, or cash.

Panama and costa rica are high on the list of countries with a large expat American population in need of US trained docs

If concierges could move to Mexico or Canada, then Barack can ban them to his heart’s delight and he can’t touch them there. I’d like to THINK that Congress’ nod would still be required for any ban, but in this new freak country who knows.

"Silly doctor. Doesn’t he know ‘bout the Physician Draft act of 2015, that will swell the ranks of the Public Health Service Corps?"

You might be on to something, but I think the iron fist in the velvet glove approach will continue. The Regime will redefine caregiver categories so that more and more care will be by nurses, physician's assistants, and other medical worker categories along with administrative provisions that will punish MDs who try to leave the practice such as special attention by the IRS, licensing bodies and a court enforced discovered right of patiants to care by their former doctors.

My husband had HIFU surgery in Mexico 2 years ago performed by an American doctor....concierge medicine is already happening...especially when the FDA does not allow a procedure that is successful and that other countries already DO allow.

THAT is already embedded in the Oregon Health EXCHANGE...the levels of “caregiver” categories that a person will have to go thru before seeing a real doctor will increase...
