'My party is full of racists': Former Colin Powell aide blasts GOP after Romney adviser says ex-Secretary of State is only supporting Obama because he's black
-Retired Colonel John Wilkerson is a Republican who served as General Colin Powell's chief of staff -John Sununu claims Mr Powell is supporting the President's election campaign because of their shared race -Says the former US Secretary of State - who is African American - did not make decision based on policy -Poll show race for White House is racially divided with Obama supported by 80% of black and Hispanic voters but just 37% of whites -Data also shows president is struggling to connect with whites who voted for him four years ago
Colin Powell's former chief of staff publicly blasted the Republican Party and one of Mitt Romneys top aide as racists over a controversial comment regarding Powells endorsement of President Obama.
Appearing on Ed Schultz's MSNBC show Friday, retired Army Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson said, 'My party is full of racists' in response to John Sununu's remark that the only reason Powell, a Republican who served as secretary of state under George W. Bush, backed the Democratic incumbent is because both men are black.
Wilkerson told Schultz that he respected Sununu 'as a Republican,' but did not have any respect for the integrity of the position that [Sununu] seemed to codify.

Condi was being pretty easy on the State Dept over the Benghazi attack. It was disgusting.
If he would have the COURAGE to admit he;s a stupid Democrat we could understand him voting for a Dem, but he says he's a REPUBLICAN voting for the WORST President of all time???? OMG!!
Plus Colin’s wife is a VERY LIBERAL DEMOCRAT.
Of course the Democratic Party is full of racists. Voting for a candidate for POTUS based on skin tone is inherently racist.

Blacks are the most racist group out there not only toward white people but also toward other minority groups like asians etc.
Silly. They both identify as black, raised in the black culture and politics of the black church, and people do see them as black.
Put it this way, if Obama was raised in the early 50s in the south would he be going to school with all the white kid and eating in the same restaurants? No.
This issue bonds black people regardless of their shade.
If that is true - that it was pressure of being seen as an Uncle Tom sell-out would he go so far as to let himself be seen associated with a “person” like Louis Farrakhan? They looked like they were enjoying each others’ company down in Jamaica last week. Powell took numerous picture with Farrakhan... Even if Powell were “broken down” I don’t know how any self-respecting person could go to that much of an extreme simply in an attempt to make oneself appear “more black” or to appease those within his community who were pressuring him.
Colin is a racist, clear and simple. He’s also an opportunist. What he isn’t is a Republican.
By the way Colin, what party made you Secretary of State?
Hey Colon Bowel!
When you supported the marxist moslem moron in 2008, you became a RAT. So in that case you are right.
The commucRAT party is full of racists...always has been.
and she’s got him WHIPPED! What a wuss!
Well, Sununu’s a doddering old fart but I am tired of the theory that all white people (men especially) are subconsciously racist. It’s racists who see racism everywhere, and it’s not old white men who see it everywhere.
Racism is a word that only makes sense within a broader concept of personal, conscious responsibility and actions (choices) made from conscious motives. When you make it a subconscious condition, you make it a mental illness and give yourself license to “cure” and otherwise mistreat those afflicted. In other words, you make them inferior (and guilty) by the mere fact of their existence. Sound familiar? Kind of sounds racist.
Logic dictates that Sununu is right. Lets break it down. Powell declared himself a Republican at least a decade a go. The Republican Party has been a solid center-right party for the last 40 years. The Democrat Party has been solid center-left for the last 40 years. In 2008 and 2012, the Republicans have nominated moderate conservative candidates, while the Democrats nominated clearly the most left wing candidate in their history. Powell supports the candidate that is clearly the opposite of what he purported to be his political views. That leaves only one component left, race. I would contend that Powell’s choice is more racially based than Maxine Waters, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson. Since these three individuals share Obama’ Leftism.
Oh my... I hadn’t run across that first picture. Thank you for sharing it. Definitely not a picture of two people who just “happen to be there”. Proves who the real racists are to me!!!
The Daily Mail is clueless.
Lawrence Wiklkerson is NOT a Republican. A glance at FEC campaign donation records show that Wilkerson has donated to a dozen Democrats over the past 5 years, including two donation to Obama. None to a Republican.
Do you have a link and references to this?
The term "racist," if not carefully defined, conveys very little information. But using it in the context of the article, confirms a particular racial attitude on the part of the user.
As a factual matter, Obama--if the Luo tribesman claimed was in fact his father--has no more in common with the vast bulk of American Negroes, than a Pakistani has in common with a Norwegian--both being Caucasian, but very different variants of same.
What is curious in this, however, is the fact that the Luo speak the language of the Arab Slave traders. That does not suggest a very friendly attitude towards the ancestors of much of Black America.
This silliness reminds me of the ridiculous address that George Bush delivered off the coast of Senegal on the subject of slavery, a few years into his Presidency--apparently ignorant of the fact that Senegal--a generation after slavery ended in America--still had two classes of residents--slave holders & slaves.
Bush, trying to be politically correct, denounced slavery--not apparently realizing that those he was addressing were far more likely to be the descendants of the Masters than the descendants of the slaves. But then the Connecticut Yankee who became Governor of Texas could more easily be excused for his mistake than the current chap in the Oval Office, who insulted the peoples from Africa on the International Olympic Committee, when he tried to get the next Olympics for Chicago, by comparing the faces on the Committee, with the population of the Chicago Southside! They almost immediately eliminated Chicago from consideration--as anyone who had common sense would have expected.
The point is that there is too much silly talk about race & ethnicity by poseurs, who are too full of themselves to really try to understand how different of the world's very diverse peoples actually function. The ultimate insult is the make believe that we are all the same. That denies all of the things which makes each of us unique.
For my money, you can take "W," Powell, Obama & Powell's former aid, with the same proverbial "grain of salt." None of the four is likely to contribute anything worthwhile to interracial, international, interclass, intercommunity or inter-family understanding.
The mindset of such men has played a tremendous part in what has led to Losing America's Multi-Generational Purpose. Those who want to submerge what is left under some form of new World Order, are the ones who want to purge Southern Conservatives from politics. Don't let the one worlders purge you, "wardaddy." Not even if they send UN poll watchers into your precinct!
