Free speech as protected by 1st Amendment?
I see no problem with issuing teachers (or many other types of employees) iPads. They can have numerous applications in the workplace. They could pay for themselves in reduced paper and copying alone.
Similarly, so long as it doesn’t interfere with the work, there’s nothing wrong with putting some personal pictures on the iPads. That’s akin to family photos on a workplace desk.
Nudie pics are another matter altogether.
There is no mention in the article of action being taken against the teacher for having a nude picture of herself on a school issued iPad. Why not? There is also no mention of how the students got the teacher's iPad in the first place. If they took it without her knowledge, then disciplinary action should be taken against them. If, however, the teacher gave the iPad to the students to use for some classroom related purpose, and they stumbled across the picture, then I think it is the teacher who is at fault here.
LOL! Post of the thread.
Also, nice SVITMOAL.
(Scary view into the mind of a liberal)
“and they have money to be issuing every teacher an iPad?”
I don’t know how. It’s Anderson. Delco and all the other auto manufacturing jobs left years ago. Still a typical union/Dem stronghold.
Hey now, it’s not fair to blame the NEA union. It could be that they went blind and were merely sent to a special ed school for the blind.
Well that changes things. What the heck was the teacher doing with a nude picture of herself (or anyone for that matter) on her ipad at school? I’d fire the teacher. punishment of the student depends on how they got the photos and what exactly they did and was that expressly forbidden or where they just smart enough to sniff around and find something? it sounds like the school went after the students but should have taken their ire out on this teacher.
I will need to see the picture at issue to determine whether the teacher should be reprimanded.
Nice post. Short, sweet and dead on.
If all of a sudden an alert pops up that the ipad synced and after hitting a button this chick's bare breasticles popped on the screen, that is hardly a reason to suspend the student. Even if the kid shouted, "hey everyone, look" .......what else would you expect from a middle school boy? Why did this teacher have material that had even the remote possibility could be sent to students?
Now, if this kid hacked her phone, or was bringing in nuddie pictures on his own accord, or managed to sneak some pictures of her in a changing area, or received the pictures from an appropriate relationship with the teacher and was showing them off......then yeah, suspend him.
These Mallards adopted me, and made a daily trek for cracked corn..
Yeah. Those kids should all be entitled to view nude photos of the teacher on their own iPad. :)
Probably would have been OK if she had some pastries.
And to think that I had to pay for my own school supplies..(and do some intrading for a Playboy magazine).
How did we ever make it through school with only paper, pencil, books, drill, practice, great teachers and parents who made sure we did homework every night.
This thread is worthless without pictures. Dang it!!!!
You had paper! That sure sounds better than the little slate boards (about the size of an iPad), and wax tablets in my day.
Seriously though, I take your point. However, just as I was happy to toss out nib pens for ballpoints (this part is true), I think it’s smart to use any tool that helps do the job better. A business case for iPads is easy to make.
It's frustrating isn't it. I get annoyed with commenters who can't be bothered to click through to the original article. But when they can't even summon up the energy to read the excerpt . . .
