Fox News poll: Most voters want change, even as Obama holds edge (O 48 R 43 D+4)

The latest Fox News poll finds the race for the White House holds steady, with 48 percent of likely voters backing the Obama-Biden ticket and 43 percent backing the Romney-Ryan ticket, if the election were held today. That’s unchanged from two weeks ago, after the Democratic convention.

Romney was preferred by one percentage point (45-44 percent) before the two conventions (August 19-21).

The president’s advantage is within the poll’s margin of sampling error.[SNIP]

In addition, even as Obama’s post-convention bounce holds, about a quarter of voters (24 percent) want the country to “mostly stay on the course it’s on,” while 73 percent say “many policies need to change.” Almost all Republicans (95 percent) and most independents (77 percent) think policies need to change, as do just over half of Democrats (51 percent).

I’m afraid you’re right. I’m voting for Romney, but it doesn’t look good. Something is terribly wrong here. With the Obama disaster, Romney should easily be up by 10. The fact that he is losing, or at best tied says either he is running a horrible campaign or the electorate is hopelessly lost.

We said the same thing 4 years ago — it’s the Bradley effect, the pollsters are lying, etc., etc., and in the end the polls were correct. No doubt the media is going all out to help Obama, so Romney better turn into the most brilliant debater since Reagan or it’s over ... and I’m not holding my breath.

IS that right? Fox had Bush losing by 2 points a week before the 2004 election?

“OMG! It’s raining bullsh1t polls. And it’s getting deep.”

Yup, that it is. The only poll I’m putting any credence in is my Unscientific, Unofficial Bumper Sticker/Yard Sign Poll. That poll currently says that nobody is excited at all about Obama this time around. In 2008 his crap was everywhere. This year there is nothing! I drive the NYC, CT, Boston corridor every week, and based on the lack of signage you see, you would never know there is a Presidential election in less than 40 days! This is good news for R&R, as conservatives are not the bs/yard sign types! However, the Rats usually love putting all this crap on their cars and lawns, and they ain’t doing it! Stop reading those other rigged polls and look for bumper stickers and yard signs!

People’s support of Obama is grudging. There are already enough people who trust Romney on the economy. He just desperately needs to come across as more likable.

That's just it. Apparently, Obama is more likable [gag!] Meanwhile, as we slip away into an irrelevant socialist laughingstock.... Wow, people are stupid!

That is one good sign (no pun intended). Here in Jacksonville, FL there are no Obama signs. It's obvious obama voters are embarrassed. You do see Mitt signs and stickers, but not many. You're right, you'd never know it was a presidential election. This has to be the most uninspiring election in my lifetime.

I'm not complaining. Sneering, maybe. But certainly not complaining.

I viewed 'Gluteus Maximus' posts for a possibility of being a troll.... and I have to conclude he's not one.

But, GM, check this: Let us say the election goes to Obama.... and let us say that the RINO's learn their lesson. Let us further say that Obama causes a fullscale collapse. And let us further say that Obama goes for a full-on Communist dictatorship.

The experience of the former Soviet Union shows that Communism can last a whole generation and a half. To teach the RINOs a lesson, you would condemn America to a full Communist Dictatorship for 70 or more years?

Absolutely. Without hesitation.

Then you are a full-on Enemy of America, a Concern Troll, and likely a Communist Agent Provocateur.

Actually, no. Just a run-of-the-mill Live Free Or Die, Don't Friggin' Tread On Me American. You know, like the valiant Founding Fathers.

Those guys weren't afraid of a little confrontation.

Completely unlike the contemptible, pee-in-my-pants-like-a-little-girl-whenever-a Democrat-frowns dweebs, who seem to make up the bulk of Romney supporters like you.

Bring it on.

One other thing. Many here - including the most prominent members - nameless here forevermore! - absolutely swore they wouldn't support the pro-abort Father of ObamaCare, Mitt Romney.

To quote the Cowardly Lion: "Not no way! Not no how!"

The GOP elites shoved Romney down our throats, prevented Ron Paul and Sarah Palin from playing any role, changed and attempted to change the party rules to prevent grassroots insurrections and to ensure the power of the monied elites, apparently assuming that, when push came to shove, the great majority of you "conservatives" would bend over and grab your ankles like good little rent-a-boys.

And they were right!

Admit it, Lazmataz. They were right about that.

C'mon, just for once. Admit it.

Of course, no surprises there. Not for me and people like me who left the GOP in 1992 with PJB.

I recall all of that very well. That's when the neocons took over the National Review.

And the pattern has been the same since then.

Just a couple short months ago, there sat many of you faux conservatives making all sorts of bold statements about a party insurrection. But now what? Now here you are very much "assuming the position" and doing what the RINOs say, that's what.

And you know who you are. You didn't follow through on a big-boy threat not to support another pro-abort liberal. No, you folded like a bunch of little weenies.

"Conservative" Romney supporters are pitiful and contemptible. Nobody can every possibly take you folks seriously again.

And you know it.

So, again, I'm not here to complain.

I'm just to sneer at your sorry asses and to pray that, when this is all over, posterity will forget that you were ever my countrymen.

Your boy Obama is falling hard whether hard-line conservatives vote Romney or not. He is the worst scourge on the face of America since Carter or Roosevelt. Good Luck on the attack of conservatives on FR.

I suggest you get your INTRADE bets in now. ABCBSNBCNN is going down hard. Could make you rich. Of course risk-taking is not an ideology of the left, but you could make all that up in just one investment.

I should add, I think that Obama is the odds-on favorite right now, at least in the EC (which is the only thing that counts, it goes without saying).

The polls seem to bear this out. I know that many don't trust the polls, and I don't doubt that they're skewed to Obama to some degree, but that said based on what I've seen Romney is at best tied and more likely down by a couple of points.

And the fact is that given everything, this should be an absolute landslide for Romney. But it's not. It's probably tied or with Obama slightly ahead. And that, I respectfully submit, is all that we really need to know about the GOP in 2012.
