Christian Bale, star of "The Dark Knight" trilogy, visited victims of the movie theater massacre in Aurora, Colo. on Tuesday, Warner Bros. confirmed to the Denver Post.
Bale went to Aurora to offer his condolences as an individual rather than as a spokesperson for the production company.
"Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," said an assistant to Susan Fleishman, the executive vice president for corporate communications at Warner Bros.
Following the tragedy at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, internet campaigns emerged asking Bale to visit the town. A young woman named Emily Sanchez posted a request to one such Facebook campaign that went viral, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
"I propose we should make enough noise asking Christian Bale to visit these kids in the hospital dressed in the real Batman outfit. They need to know Heroes can be real too, not just the bad guys," Sanchez wrote.
"Words cannot express the horror that I feel," Bale said in a statement released on Saturday, "I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
Bale arrived in an ambulance around 2 p.m., reports Fox 31 Denver.
Who’s the cute chick on the right?
you beat me to it
she’s wearing an ID badge like the other hospital employees
Good on him.
This was mighty decent of him...something you wouldn’t expect from the glitterazi.
Quit eyeballin’ my wife...
Why??
If his motives are sincere, I have to give some, imo, well deserved kudos.
To avoid media attention, I assume. There are probably reporters stationed outside the hospital.
Nice gesture.
“Whos the cute chick on the right?”
I was thinking/eyeing her too, before I saw Bale. But you said it loudly LOL.
Good point.
Good for him!
A most decent thing to do. I’m sure it helped lift some spirits to have him visit during a time of unimaginabe horror.
THank you, Mr. Bale.
Thanks, I don’t have them very often.
Kudo’s to Christian Bale, but the picture should have been of him with the victims, not hospital staff.
Moved to ‘Frontpage’ - this deserves more attention.
Bale is a class act for this. Many kudos. The fact he did this on his own without any PR shows his motives were truly genuine and pure.
Class act, I’ll tell you... even if he is a Hollywood leftist weirdo.... that was extraordinarily nice to do.
Thanx, VF. Those are some great pics, and they tell a lot about Christian Bales values.
