A shocking and disturbing video taken by an undercover investigator at a pig farm depicts the horrific extent of animal cruelty being practiced at a pork-supply company used by Walmart.
Mercy For Animals released the graphic video which documents the daily animal abuse allegedly taking place at Christensen Farms in Minnesota. The video depicts hundreds of pigs packed into cages so tiny, they can barely move or even turn around. Some of the usually-social animals bite down on the bars just for something to do.

You are hurting farmers with your attempted defense of needless cruelty. Farrowing pens are being phased out by other farms that recognize they are not necessary, and there are less cruel ways of killing nonviable piglets and performing minor surgery.
WalMart. Um... pork... ummmmm... BBQ
You oughta see just how cruel wild pigs are to each other.... and other assorted critters.....
I still like ribs but that was a very good post. Thank you.
By stealing another’s pigs?
Here, Porky, look at this:
Yes, they certainly do, but your premise is correct.
What most do not realize is that in case of a collapse or interruption, we would not revert to 19th Century methods, we would end up at 15th century methods after an 80% die off rate.
We simply do not have the skills, experience, or understanding to start at the 19th Century at all.
Excellent book on the reversion to such methods after a collapse
I don’t want to sound inhumane or say that I agree or disagree with you on this subject but you are worried about the cages when the actual animal is about to have its throat cut
And Bacon
I doubt that Christian humans in Egypt, Sudan, and Syria are having as much fun as pet horses and dogs in the US are. Pigs are far down on my concern priority list.
“How you make that logical leap is amazing! Compassion for a helpless animal is not the same as seeking justice for a crime.”
You need to study Europe a bit.
Now I just can’t agree there. I’ve seen waaaaaaaaay too many indications that animals have memory, in some cases even understanding.
But *food* animals...well, I reckon maybe their Maker saw a kindness in making em dumb, and those who raise them for a living know their quirks and tendencies better than anyone else.
I didn’t realize how many sickos we have here.
I thought it was a story worth passing along. I was raised on pork. I have a hard time eating anything that’s treated inhumanly.
“I have a hard time eating anything thats treated inhumanly.”
If you want your food to have been treated like a human, you’ll have to give up eating.
Consider the helpless carrot:

I was raised on a farm. I know pigs very well.
Thank you for saying it better then I could.
He has been ‘photographed’ eating a hotdog, I believe.
They said it was a hotdog. Hmmm
Pain Meat: It's What's For Dinner!
Laz 3:13 And Verily, I command thee, to go out amongst the animals and the fauna, and torture them. Torture the sheep, harass the cows. Pain the horses, beat the rabbits. Waterboard the donkeys, flay the chickens. Spank the monkeys, disembowel the pigs. Selah.
I don’t give a crap about Walmart. It’s part of the story. I can’t change a headline.
The profit is a known fact...conveyor belt food is a known fact.
Humane treatment of all animals killed is what I would like to see.
I’m not part of PETA or animals rights. As a past hunter, I’m far from it.
I just human.
Well you’re just hilarious.
Take a bow.
“How long could Walmart get away with producing and selling dog meat in this way?”
Forever if dogs were as popular a food as pigs!!!
Pigs are food, get over it!
The girl in that picture represents conservatives and the fist represents the GOP-e.
Cha. Y’know?
Yep, kind a figured you were that type.
Let's go out for some Pain Burgers!
A) The DISHES, if she knows what's GOOD for her.
RE: Neanderthal’s like you are sad indeed.
Yeah it’s Neanderthals (plural, not Neanderthal’s = possessive) like me who put their lives on the line so you can sit on your couch and stuff cupcakes down your pie hole.
Actually, there is. If we stop this practice, where will I get my succulent Pain Meat?
I guess you would know, huh?
They may have useful information.
A) Nothing. She ain't listened twice already.
A) Who cares - what was she doing out of the kitchen anyway?
A) Give the damned chick a shovel
A: So they can stand closer to the oven
We were cattle raisers but a man who worked for us brought some hogs onto our ranch. A sow had about 10 piglets in a large pen. She lay down on all but one and killed them. When our employee found the one remaining piglet he brought it to me to raise on a bottle.
It was a very fun exercise that I had never done before (or since). My little boys helped me and they played with the pig, even riding her when she got big enough. We named her Fern and when she was big enough she went to slaughter like the 9 that were lost would have done. It is the way of the world, sorry it upsets you.
A: When her first words are, "A man once told me....."
I eat pork. Humane is humane.
Nuff said.
Farrowing pens are being phased out by legislation pushed by people with no animal husbandry knowledge and the desire to eliminate all use of domestic animals.
LOL, funniest stuff I’ve read all morning. :)
I too grew up on a farm and have raised pigs.
This thread is another variation on several recurrent animal abuse threads here that show certain Freepers routinely confuse conservatism with a callous, unChristian defense of brutality.
They confuse dominion with domination.
Ah, who are we kiddin'. I *love* torturing the animals. Particularly the rabbits.
What does that have to do with pig slaughter?
Are you an Alinsky Disciple™? One of their tactics is change the subject to deflect away from the original point when they don't have credible rebuttal.
I have another question. Is is it wrong to assume "...like me who put their lives on the line so you can..." is letting a little Narcissism creep out?
And for the record, I stuffed one cupcake (singular) down my pie hole, not cupcakes (plural).
But let me be the first to salute you for putting your life on the line as a Grammar Cop on the lookout for those that can't spail, as one example.
What an outrage!!!
We do get the whole picture when they're videotaping the caretakers grabbing piglets by the feet and slamming them repeatedly into a concrete floor, then tossing the bleeding piglets into a squirming pile to die from blunt force trauma.
Why do I think so?
Because Christensen Farms issued a response to the video. Of all the practices in the video, CF announced they've stopped "blunt force trauma euthanasia" (while saying, essentially, "not that there was anything wrong with that"), and will be substituting "euthanasia using carbon dioxide to prevent the suffering of sick or injured piglets."
I understand tail docking, gestational stalls, and the like - but watching the repeated slamming of piglets onto the concrete floor did nothing but remind me of Michael Vick body-slamming his fighting docks to the ground to kill them.
We're above that.
Bob Barker is an animal rightist of the 1st degree. As a Vet Tech, I can promise that a baby pig begins screaming at the highest decibels as soon as you merely pick it up.
Puppies’ tails are docked without anesthesia. Baby boy HUMANS are circumcised without pain meds (at least that was the case for most of history).
I don’t like the fact that there were piglets with sores. But, sadly, consumers will scream louder than any piglet at the confiscatory prices it would take to have veterinary care of food animals, so they’re destroyed. That’s life.

Good.
