President Barack Obama made a previously unannounced visit to Afghanistan on Tuesday, the first anniversary of the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden in neighboring Pakistan.
The president will make a televised address from Afghanistan at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The trip was Obama's third to Afghanistan since taking office. He visited in March 2010 and returned in December of the same year. He also visited Afghanistan in 2008 as a presidential candidate.
Tuesday's visit came at a particularly delicate time in relations between the United States and Afghanistan. The countries have been negotiating a strategic agreement that would outline the basis for U.S.-Afghan cooperation after most U.S. and allied troops withdraw in 2014.

2011: “I authorized Seal Team 6 to kill Bin Laden.”
2008: “Guantanamo is entirely unnecessary, and the detainees should not be interrogated.”
2011: “Vital intelligence was obtained from Guantanamo detainees that led to our locating Bin Laden.”
Really? Are all those quotes real? Can you give citations?
If so, those would be the greatest talking points against Bambi as CIC, not that I think for a moment the GOP would use them.

You know what I just don’t understand is we are told that his base is antiwar, wants gitmo closed etc: So how does this help him election wise? Is this more about his ego and street cred than the election? I really don’t understand what he is doing with this.

He can’t run on the economy, it’s slowing.
He can’t run on jobs, unemployment is rising again.
He can’t run on making life better, because the average Americans life has gotten MUCH WIRSE under Obama.
It’s ALL HE’s GOT, and Axelrod told us LAST YEAR that killing bin Lademn meant Obama would be reelected. They have been planning this for TWO YEARS, folks.

Well it might take more than 4 years, but if he is reelected I have little doubt my children will be forced out. Good thing my daughter has a thing for Australia.
I am also sure Obama will force a bunch of soldiers to stand on the podium behind him as human shields, oops I mean as a photo op.
Could someone please add the Katrina Looter Guy to this photo? It just seems appropriate. That guy took advantage of the chaos to steal Heineken. This one took advantage of the hard work done by our military, intelligence services and President Bush to take credit for a decision that was a no-brainer.
