Everyone please send whatever you are able to, whether it is $10, $100 or $1,000+. The DUmmies, Morons, Kos Kiddies and that crew are laughing up their sleeves. Jim may have to make this site members only or allow ads. Better for us to just help with what we can. Maybe you can donate as a memorial for a lost loved one, a servicemember who never made it home or was disabled defending our country. Perhaps you'd like to give to keep free discussion alive and to show them that we're not knuckling under. I'm sure a well thought out or prayerful meditation will lead you to see the need and how you can help. If every registered FReeper and our lurkers would each just help out with a fin or a sawbuck, or better yet a Ben Franklin, we could put this to bed and get on with the conservative cause.
The only thing about that hair is if you had the ability in 1980+ let it grow. (Black hair??? ALL your base...)
The circumstances of Romney’s decisions is that he is a lifelong dedicated lefty, that reversed his public positions when it was time to go for president.
It is taboo to take the circumstances of a politicians decisions into account here nowadays, but you cant understand those decisions without the context.
For me, knowing the truth is the basis of conservatism.
It ticks a lot of people off....
Carry on then. Got a pretty wife in there wondering what could be so important that I delay coming to bed with her.
Keep a level head and a keen eye out.
Ain’t that the truth!
Is it really that hard for you to understand not wanting to vote for the Democrat Lite candidate?
If you feel that you must vote RINO over Commie ok, But it isn't that hard to see the dilemma some face. You are very flip about like most hackneyed ABO voters.
This is a major problem here and after a thousand posts today it still isn't being addressed by the one person that can stop it.
First, you need to learn what an LLC is.
Second, it is NUNYA (none of your business in case you live in Rio Linda)
Third, you can leave anytime you want to let the door knob great you on the way out.
Fourth you insult FReepers buy calling them czars?
Fifth, see you next Tuesday ;)
I will likely donate half my tithes for this month when my $361 social security check posts on my bank.
I’m still praying about it, however as there’s a lot of other things seeking the same measley amount.
And . . . welll I’m praying about it.
I sometimes get tired of being treated with undeserved hostility and disrespect by a couple of the mods who seem to hate me with a blood lust level of hostility.
You are standing approxiamtely 7 feet behind me while I try my best to get them before they get you.
I’m with you.
Some of these trolls just don’t get it do they?
You (and others on this thread) obviously believe that it is OK to compromise on true values and that it is not only acceptable to do so, but actually preferable when it comes to politics.
I contribute to Free Republic BECAUSE I believe in being associated with those who support pro-life, pro-marriage (between one man and one woman), and those who support the 2nd Amendment and a restricted and limited government at all levels, among other issues. I WILL NOT compromise on matters of faith and morals.
Just what do you believe in? Do you think that it is important to drop everything, including support of Free Republic, because we must now concede -- in April of an election year -- to a liar like Mitt Romney all because he appears to be the ONLY alternative to the worst POTUS in memory? And you feel you can now attack the owner of this site with impunity, all because you happen to favor appeasement and concession, rather than fighting for issues that are absolutely the foundation of our life and freedoms? Really now.
What do you believe in and are you willing to fight and/or even die for your God-given inalienable freedoms?
As I understand it, he has been a business man for the majority of his life, with one term as governor for a political life. How can you make such a broad statement based on one term?
Also, name one politician that hasn't changed positions to garner votes....one that has actually been elected to a statewide or national post.
How would you have viewed Reagan...an ex democrat and union leader? Do you believe men cannot become more conservative as they age?
I’ll be trying to keep up! Only money quiets the squeaky wheal!
Marxist [MARK-sist]: 1. a devotée of Karl Marx; 2. a millionaire Bishop of the LDS Church; 3. one who shops at Marks & Spencer; 4. one who subscribes to the doctrines of historical determinism and dialectical materialism (q. v.); 5. one who favors the abolition of private property and the government ownership of all economic assets; 6. any Massachusetts politician who speaks fluent French; 7. a fan of Groucho Marx (obs.). Compare: Communist, LDS, Bolshevik, Menshevik, Socialist, Progressive, Utopianism, Mormon, Venture Capitalist, Kerry, Romney.
What I will never understand is the need for attention. If someone disapproves of something, why not be an adult and simply walk away? This absolutely sounds like a leftist screed. “I don’t understand the finances and I don’t like what’s being said so destroy it!” Total liberal mindset.
I do not believe
that a single authentically conservative FREEPER
wants to or is compromising
a SINGLE CORE CONSERVATIVE VALUE
WE ALL STILL FIERCLY SUPPORT:
1. THE CONSTITUTION
2. THE REPUBLIC AND STATES RIGHTS
3. BEARING ARMS
4. FREEDOM OF RELIGION VS FROM RELIGION
5. RIGHT TO LIFE
6. SMALL GOVERNMENT
7. FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND THE PRESS
8. NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION
9. NO SURRENDER OF SOVEREIGNTY TO GLOBALISM
10. UN OUT OF THE USA
11. NO SATANISM
12. NO ISLAM TAKING OVER THE USA; NO SHARIA LAW
NO ONE I KNOW ON FR is anything but wholeheartedly behind and in support of those CORE CONSERVATIVE VALUES.
Claiming otherwise is untrue, inaccurate, cheeky and foolish.
I don’t think the money issues are the most important part of this thread.
This is about
Either we will be a stronger COMMUNITY afterwards
we’ll be more fractured and burned at the stake.
Yes, that's exactly what they propose to do. I stand with you, our right to vote was bought with the blood and treasure of generations past and present and mine will not be wasted so I can join a group temper tantrum in cyberspace.
Please read what vox_freedom is responding to.
I completely agree.
I’d appreciate a post number, please.
I can sometimes miss construe posts and referent posts etc.
My theory has long been that perhaps deep pockets buy special privileges. If that isn't the case, we can only hope that when bludgeoned over the head by the same complaint over and over again a sense of self preservation will set in. I have always avoided that clique like the plague.
Vinegar on fries is awesome!
Lemon works too, particularly with Mediterranean food
THANKS FOR YOUR KIND WORDS and a great reality check.
You obviously haven't read the same comments on multiple threads I've seen over the past many months.
So you haven't run into any Ron Paul bots over the past year? You haven't read any comments by Romney-ites who were then discovered and banned? Claiming that you've never ever seen such comments on Free Republic is untrue, inaccurate, cheeky and foolish.
I’ve never observed that cults have a great deal of constructive influence on the body politic, on the Nation, on the planet.
Cults increasingly become in-grown, myopic, full of back-biting, prissy rigid narrowness, brittle, fractured, irrational and full of intense hostility toward ALL OUT-GROUP individuals regardless of how similar etc.
FR will either become LESS cult-like or MORE cult-like after this.
What you fail to understand is that conservatism is *NOT* defined by *YOU*.
Therefore, if you read something you don’t like, it doesn’t suddenly cease to be conservative.
And thus, trying to zot the member who posted it doesn’t mean the poster wasn’t conservative.
That is my compensation plus Amy’s and Chris’ who works here part time helping me and learning the ropes (ie, Management and Administration) plus a part of our related payroll tax expenses.
I’m sure there are probably others who might be able to run a site as large as FR for fewer bucks (maybe), but they’ll probably need to be independently wealthy if they don’t take compensation and thus they’re probably not really interested in running a donor based grassroots organization. Nor will they put in the hours I do.
Thank you very much!!
And this just in:
$366.00 from Michigan
$50.00 from North Carolina
Thank you very much, Michigan and North Carolina!!
And we’re now over THIRTY-TWO percent!!
With that, we’re going to dinner. Will bbl.
OPEN ALL NIGHT!!
Dammit people are always wanting stuff their way!
Life shouldn’t be this hard! LOL!
I work very hard to post the truth as I see it, know it and have experienced it.
I have NOT seen posts contrary to those core values by anyone I consider an authentic CONSERVATIVE FREEPER.
Actually, I don’t RECALL seeing any by anyone.
No, it IS TRUE, that I’ve greatly reduced my reading and posting on FR.
I’ve been forceably restricted to posting almost only about things that are not of great spiritual or END TIMES importance to me so I don’t spend as much time here as I used to. So it’s plausible that I’ve missed such posts.
However, I think the spirit and gist of my post still stands.
THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF FREEPERS ON FR ARE AUTHENTIC CONSERVATIVES WHO MORE OR LESS WHOLEHEARTEDLY SUPPORT OUR CORE VALUES.
I’ll continue to believe that until I OBSERVE otherwise.
Narrow, rigid, prissy, tunnel-visioned folks do not define reality for me. They can distort reality 6 ways to Sunday if they wish. I don’t take THEIR distortions on as my own.
I have not read the entire thread. I cannot. TOO painful. I found this post which expresses my felling very well and will tag a few thoughts on.
I LOVED this place for a very long time and once said that I had never met a Freeper I didn't like. You, your wife, and son are among those folks Jim and nothing has changed in that regard as far as you are concerned but, sad as it is, those days are gone and it saddens me more than you can imagine. I very much preferred the FR of 1998 (flame wars and all) to the FR of today. Back then this was a crucible where ideas of every stripe were melted down and refined. Today it is nothing more than a boring echo chamber and I have rarely posted on the main forum for quite some time now.
This place belongs to you Jim and you have every right to do with it as you wish. I have never said anything other than that from day one but I must confess to you that I no longer find FR WORTH contributing to sad as that is. And one more thing before I go. I don't like Mitt Romney any better than you do but I WILL vote for him in November! The alternative is just too horrible to contemplate.
If you are in a bannin mood it would appear that you have lot of work to do.
Thanks for stating the truth so eloquently.
Guess a moderator just got revealed...
Those are certainly intense posts.
I guess I’ll need to reread the response to them.
My own point about those posts would be
HEALTHY ORGANIZATIONS HANDLE SUCH FEEDBACK GRACIOUSLY AND CONSTRUCTIVELY. They take whatever %% of truth out of them and grow from the input.
Unhealthy organizations shoot the messenger.
That’s just a fact that any Organizational Development PhD would tell you is true of all types of organizations.
I’m not here to defend Romney but i do live in MA and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Romney had NOTHING to do with gay marriage in MA. It was implemented by the courts over his objections. PERIOD.
Brother, yours was just the reply to get into the thread with. You sound like you have your priorities straight. I’ll pray for you if you do the same for me. God Bless and good night!
Too bad he doesn’t really give a crap what you think. He posted money coming in and went to dinner.
Wow, all the cliches.
Romney did not vote for President Reagan he would not even register republican and was from a famously liberal republican family, he bragged that his mother ran as a pro-abortion Senate candidate, his father was the anti-war presidential candidate in 1968. Romney eventually started devoting all of his donations and fund raising solely to Democrat candidates, and voted for Tsongas in 1992. Following that time, even after he RE-REGISTERED REPUBLICAN TO ENTER MASSACHUSETTS POLITICS Romney campaigned as the anti-Reagan, the anti-Jesse Helms types, against the Contract with America, and was fund raising for Planned Parenthood. Romney was rabidly pro-gay, and antigun.
Romney is a dedicated lifelong, anti-conservative, he and his anti-war, presidential candidate father stormed off the convention floor at the 1964 Republican convention IN PROTEST AGAINST GOLDWATERS NOMINATION. For years Romney was one of Americas most vocal, passionately pro-abortion politicians, explaining that his entire family had become dedicatedly pro-abortion in 1963.
Changing or massaging an issue or two is totally different than at age 59 in preparation to run in a different election, suddenly reversing ALL of your lifelong political positions, try to imagine any politician pulling off that trick or being in a position to need to do it to run to LEAD his chosen party.
You mean Captain Reagan who by the second half of the 1940s was already starting to be seen as a communist fighting conservative, testifying to Congress and naming names, working with the FBI, having to carry a gun for self defense from the left, Reagan?
The Reagan after 1948 was campaigning for Republicans like Eisenhower, who he campaigned for in 1952 and again in 1956, and then campaigned for Nixon against JFK in 1960, already having earned a reputation as an active speaker for conservatism for years?
The Reagan who formally registered Republican in 1962 and spoke at the Goldwater convention in 1964? The one that Mitt and his father stormed out of in formal protest against conservatism?
Reagan was famous for his conservatism before the Vietnam War, and the Great Society, Roe V Wade, the abortion wars, Jimmy Carter, decades of Cold War defeats, and the radical 1960s, before the Reagan Revolution and the Contract with America, and Clinton, and the Gore election of 2000, Mitt Romney would not even register Republican during the Reagan Presidency or vote for him. Romney, at almost age 60, had a stroke (or something) and suddenly, unexplainedly, became a totally different person around 2006, merely to run for national office.
Reagan and Romney have nothing in common.
We are The Resistance!!
And were now over THIRTY-TWO percent!!
WooHoo! Thank you donors! Lets roll!
The owner responded politely.
Actually contribution are pretty much on for 45 days. FR usually will raise $65,000 to 70 thousand in about 30 days with no sweat, and the last $25 thousand to 90+ grand will take 15 days. The last one took a little longer but was still successful at raising the operating funds.
And, if anyone needs to be zotted, it’s the ‘I’m god-like’-mods who have let power go to their inflated heads and zot fingers.
SOMETIMES it SEEMS like their greatest claim to glory and their greatest pride is convincing themselves that they’ve successfully played Jim like a piano against the FREEPERS they personally despise for mysterious reasons.
There are some good mods and some bad ones, one in particular needs to be kicked to the curb and I think most know who that is.
