I’m becoming more and more convinced as each day goes by that the reason why Rove, FOX News, The GOP-e, et al, are pushing so hard to nominate the Reagan loathing, conservatism loathing, tea party loathing, abortionist, statist/progressive Mitt Romney is to try to destroy the tea party. Romney cannot win the general (for many obvious reasons) but that doesn’t faze them. The tea party is a threat to the RINO GOP/statist hold on power so must be destroyed.

When otherwise stalwart tea party “leaders” start caving, then the tea party will have less and less credibility, less and less participation and less and less influence.

Whether Romney wins or loses, it’ll be mission accomplished for Rove & Co.

Well, now, that was just damned interesting. Plausible, too.

Another thought is this: They believe there is no saving the current USA, with the mountain of debt we now have, a faltering economic structure, and so on. So they'd rather a Democrat be the one in the history books to preside over a dissolved US, like we remember Gorbechev presiding over a dissolved USSR.

I agree with that wholeheartedly.

I also see newbie operatives coming here to take advantage of our discontent and further erode our morale by diminishing those who we perceived as being on our side but have let us down....and posting endless articles to shove it in our faces.

Seems dead-on.

We've already seen a lot of economic self-survival knashing of teeth on FR...so it'd make sense that the GoP-e power base has the same kneejerk impulse to the tea party...

We've seen the GoP grow increasingly Big govt...because the temptation to "get in on" the largesse is just too great...

So the RINOs have wanted their "own rascal" Big Govt guy vs. that other rascal Big Govt guy in the WH.

I kinda agree, but they’ve been at it longer than the TEA party has existed such as its spontaneous existence is. I firmly believe that the hard target is Conservatism albeit the TEA Party is Conservatism.

Conservatism, TEA Party, whichever, or both as both are reflections of conservatism they’re targets for the Leftists, the Leftist RINO’s.

WE are a PIA to them. WE have to be more of a PIA to them.

Well, McCain threw the last election on purpose; of this I have no doubt. What you posit makes sense. The GOP insider elitists are just as much enemies of the Constitution as the Dems/Progressives. Just different flavors of deadly poison.

The flaw with their plan, imho, is that there's never been a 'Tea Party' per se, nor any 'tea party leaders' with much, if any, significance.

Just millions and millions and millions of everyday patriotic Americans who are absolutely sick to death of being used and abused and taxed and inflated and nanny-stated 24/7/365.

All those millions - their votes and their righteous anger - won't be placated by anyone who haughtily presumes to rule subjects rather than lead his/her fellows.

The SPIRIT of the 'Tea Party' lives in the hearts and genes of all those in this nation who still value the ideals that motivated the Founders,
and try their best each day to raise their families and live their lives with integrity, in a land that's increasingly hostile to their efforts.

Until such time as the enemedia, the indoctrination factories, and those who've already sold their souls to corruption can claim to have extinguished its flame,
the spirit and fire of Liberty that they so rightly fear will always be alive out here, committed enemies to their treasonous usurpations.

I think that the tea party only gets stronger when opposed to this extent.

We know that we are winning when we make them whine! :)

This is another gem you've been saying for months, and you're right again.

Rove, the GOP-E and the corrupt, cozy, cocktail Beltway crowd, hate the Tea Party, hate Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich and have gleefully supported Romney from the get go, because he's one of them and worse!

They smugly and arrogantly go on TV to state that we, the Tea Party have all but vanished, and that conservatives will rally 'round the GOP nominee bcause we "so despise Obama."

Well, not this time pals. We've been taken for granted one too many times.

Provided Romney buys himself the GOP-E nomination, without us, he can damn sure well buy himself the election without us too!

Oh, we will vote, all right. We will vote straight conservative up and down our ballots in all other races. Voter turn out by us is imperative!!

TEA Party patriots unite! Freedom is never free and it's messy.

Support and Vote for Newt now to try to stop the liar, liberal abortionist, pray and keep praying, and Trust in Him.

Please support Free Republic. Trust me, please, we need FR and one another NOW, more than ever.

EVERY donation, no matter the amount, is truly and greatly appreciated.

God bless and keep you all.

I never looked at it from that angle. That scenario makes sense and I can see every step the GOPE has taken to undermine and weaken the Tea Party to date. It further confirms that the GOPE and the Dims are one and the same and have nearly identical agendas - letting us believe there is a difference, in their minds, satisfies our need to rebel.

I noticed that about Rove and the establishment in regards to Sarah Palin. They didn't quite know what to do with her. Along comes Newt who has an undisputable record as Speaker of the House and panic sets in ..who has been the target of the attacks? Newt.

We have to fight to the end for Newt...no white flags of surrender will be waved by the true patriots that vote with a conscience and an education. You are right Jim..a revolution is brewing and I have to applaud YOU, Marguerite, RitaOK, Windflier, Cincinatus'Wife, onyx, TrueBelieverForever, caww and others for the exemplary work you do

Rove, FOX News, The GOP-e, et al, are pushing so hard to nominate ... abortionist, statist/progressive Mitt Romney is to try to destroy the tea party.

So when are we going to get together and do an early-primary Tea Convention so we have ONE conservative candidate to run against the GOPe machine where we can beat them instead of having Bachman, Cain, Pawlenty, Perry, Santorum, and Newt splitting up all the Anti-Romney vote?

Does everyone forget the tit-for-tat sniping that went on at the beginning of the primaries? "You get out, NO YOU get out!" All Romney has had to do is just keep his head down while we chew each other up.

Yup, totally agree.
The Rino/GOP-E figure a little useless power is better than no power at all and the hell with the country and conservatives.

As far as tea party leader, I have none and recognize none, but I am tea party.

As Rush said last week... the gop/e had best be very careful... because Rush said that he is not so sure that romney can convince people like you and I to vote for him... we both know that there is NOTHING that will force either you or me into voting for that demon... if they destroy the TEA Party movement... they will have committed suicide and we will go on to rebuild a new movement. They only way to stop us is to kill us all... obamao has a plan for that. I wonder if mitt is the author of that plan too?

I agree. These RINO's support all the non-conservative positions anyway whether it is the homosexual agenda, pro-abortion, higher taxes, gun control, immigration amnesty, etc., etc. If Mitt "the liar" Romney is nominated they can't lose! Heads I win, tails you lose! And the GOP establishment JUST DOESN"T GET IT!

We get it. We totally resist and will not comply! Damn the torpedos and full steam ahead. We will not compromise, we will not retreat, we will fight for our rights and our freedoms.
