America's Alibis for Not Helping Syria
Real Clear World/WSJ ^ | Feb. 25, 2012 | Fouad Ajami

There are the Friends of Syria, and there are the Friends of the Syrian Regime. The former, a large group-the United States, the Europeans and the bulk of Arab governments-is casting about for a way to end the Assad regime's assault on its own people. In their ranks there is irresolution and endless talk about the complications and the uniqueness of the Syrian case.

No such uncertainty detains the Friends of the Syrian Regime-Russia, Iran, Hezbollah and to a lesser extent China. In this camp, there is a will to prevail, a knowledge of the stakes in this cruel contest, and material assistance for the Damascus dictatorship.

Whoever would replaced Assad will be even worse, just like in Egypt and Libya.

In all likelihood -- certainly wouldn't be enough better to warrant even one infidel dying for the cause.

I do not think Assad will be overthrown. He has too many important countries in his corner. All these countries are supplying him arms, men or both.Iran has been giving tips to Syria on how to quell internal problems.

Assad is certainly our enemy. But anyone who would replace him would be even worse, no question.

Hillary has said that Obama has a chance here to do what Clintbilly did in Yugoslavia. And she is right—because we fought that war on the wrong side, handing over Kosovo to Muslim terrorist thugs, drug smugglers and body parts salesmen. So, now she wants to do the same thing as her dear husband in Syria. No, thanks.

We don’t need an alibi for not “helping” Syria (which side? any side?)

We shouldn’t get involved period.

The smart play here is to do nothing but give verbal support to the opposition. Let the fighting drag on for as long and bloody as possible. The number one threat right now is Iran. The Shiite coalition of Iran, Assad in Syria, and Hezbollah. Who are backed in the wings by Moscow and Peking. The blood lust of the Sunni World is starting to turn against this coalition. In the last week Hamas has become an ex-member of this coalition. Its is not off base to predict that the Sunni Jihadi maniacs will start pointing their suicide bombers in the direction of Assad and Iran, possibly Moscow and Peking later on in the future. Israel may get a free shot at the Iranian nuclear program, as the Sunnis look the other way when they do. If we play this right, and forget about trying to bring democracy to this region, by playing a Nixonian game, this could lead to a win, win.
Looking back, what would Nixon have done in 2001. My answer is that after overthrowing the Taliban he would have handed Afghanistan over to its local warlords, no Karzai or Loya Jurgas, all on the CIA payroll. Next he would have either got Musharraf on the payroll or had the CIA engineer a coup in Pakistan in order to keep control over that side of the border. As for Iraq, he would have cut a deal with Saddam. He opens his WMD programs to us out of sight to the rest of the world, read that as Iran, and brought him back into the fold as non hostile to us. Considering the complete lack of gratitude the Iraqi people have shown us till now, who cares what he did to his own people, as long as he helped us hunt down the Jihadis.

Well, the bleeding hearts of the UN and the MSM and the Donkey Party and RINOs like McLame can all go around and go boo-hoo about the Syrians killing each other.

What's new? Muslim has been killing Muslim for 1,400 years when they weren't killing Jews, Christians, Buddhists, or other Infidels they didn't like. This is a win-win for the U.S. Stay out and say all sorts of nice things about the “rebels” while doing nada, zip, zero.

Now, someone tell me why our Middle East policy will not give Christians and Jews priority immigration instead of Muslims? Who are the deranged Muslim killers and who are the victims? Hello, Washington, is there anyone with a brain there? We need to be deporting Muslims, shutting down mosques as national security threats, and bringing ME Christians and Jews in instead of leaving them to be butchered.
