I was sort of hoping that people like you would have a sense of humor--I guess that's too much to ask for a yankee (I lived in NJ for 4 years back in the late 60's--and loved it).

The Yankees we object to are the ones who come to Texas, attracted by our economy and our jobs and they immediately begin trying to turn us into the disaster areas they just left. Thank-you very much folks, but you ruined your own states, leave ours alone.

“The civil war was fought for the wrong reasons.”

I disagree; the logic was sound. The South couldn’t co-exist with a North that had increasingly left the tenets of the founders by the wayside. The South was living the revolution, against blue coats that had replaced red coats; they much more resembled the country founded in 1776 than their Northern counterparts.

To this day those differences are evident.

There wasn't any logic, the Democrat slave owners used any and all excuses to fight for slavery against the party formed to fight against slavery (Republicans). Slavery is not a states power issue any more than the 2nd amendment is a states power issue.

The difference between Republicans (at least the ones that care about the constitution) and Democrats still evident yes, but I'm not sure which side you are on.

Slavery was a secondary issue in the war; the Southern states rightly believed that the power of government rested with the individual states, while the Northern states believed the power should rest in the Federal government.

Most southerners couldn’t afford a single slave, and 2 slave states fought for the Union; slavery was not the driving force of the war. Lincoln himself said if he could preserve the union without emancipating the slaves he would; there were obviously deeper issues involved.

Apparently for the first 70 years of this country’s existence, slavery was compatible with the Constitution; only when the Northern states had freed their slaves was it a problem. I live in NJ, and at one time we were a slave state as well.

This is being attempted in California, also.
Banned .50 BMG (felony to have it),
Attempted banning any ammo with lead,
attempted banning mail order ammo,
attempted banning any ammo capable of penetrating “bullet proof vest”, etc,
attempted requiring any pistol calibre sale require signature and declaration.
