Firebrand Free Republic Founder Endorses Newt Gingrich With Epic Call to Action
Fox News ^ | January 19, 2012 | Fox News

I'm officially endorsing Newt Gingrich for president today. Was going to wait until after Florida, but see no reason to delay. We need Newt to win in South Carolina and Florida to stop any possible momentum building up for the establishment big government, statist, abortionist RINO!!

No, Free Republic has not decided to go “Moderate”, it's just that you have decided to go brain dead.

You know, I’m not completely blind to the Romney/Beck/Mormonism angle, but I’ve yet to hear anyone tell me one thing Beck has said about Gingrich that isn’t true. Can anyone explain Newt’s oft-stated affinity for Woodrow Wilson, FDR and Teddy Roosevelt? Throw in LBJ and that’s a progressive Mount Rushmore right there. I don’t know how any conservative doesn’t find that incredibly alarming. In light of that, health care mandates, anthropogenic global warming and Dede Scozzafava seem perfectly consistent with who Newt is. Yeah, he’s better than Romney — but man, if that’s the only bar our candidate needs to clear, we’re in deep trouble.

Have I mentioned that I hate this election?

Who does Beck support?

Santorum

No doubt that the Morman (Beck) will switch his support to Romney after Santorum comes in 4th Saturday, and drops out on Monday.

I don't think any Morman would attack another Morman. And Beck is probably supporting Santorum for now, because Rick helps guarantee a Romney win

How much shame will Santorum carry if HE causes the SC winner-take-all delegates to go to Romney? Based on Rick's crummy voting record with Dems and RINOs, he probably has no shame.

I listened to him on O’Reilly the other day, and I came away from that thinking he was a Romney supporter.

Just as I loathed Clinton’s sexcapades, I feel the same way about Newt. Especially cause Newt was doing the same thing Clinton was doing, all the while trashing Clinton. It’s the hypocrisy. Santorum has the conservative pov and the personal principles.

If Newt is the candidate, it will be “crotchety old white guy” versus “young, hip, black guy” all over again. And the MSM will play the old ethics stuff over and over again. Buckley’s rule — support the most conservative candidate who is electable. It ain’t Gingrich. It’s Romney.
**

Eh, maybe for some who don’t use a single neuron in their brains it will play that way (and we’ll never have THEIR votes anyway) ....but I believe Newt is going to turn around that old “crotchety” white guy image into something else .... he’s going to do it the old fashioned way and EARN the respect of voters through his words, actions, and results.

AND I DO believe that narrative needs to be squashed, once and for all. It’s reverse racism, and its divisive and someone needs to call it out. I’m sure Newt will be the one to do that.

FreeRepublic may have decided to go moderate. But I have not.

I don't think FR is going moderate. On the contrary, most conservatives I know, and most here simply will not change their minds about conservative ideas which will save this country. Is Newt the prefect conservative candidate? Probably not, but you also have to be realistic about the election. So far lately, I like what Gingrich is saying, and I will wholeheartedly support him. It doesn't really matter much at all, if a candidate has all the attributes to satisfy all conservatives, if they have no prayer of winning the presidential election. Newt is indeed a conservative in political thought, and we will fight to keep him on the right path, if he waivers. It's time to choose a horse that can win, and Newt is the obvious choice.

HA...I think more of the population is figuring out the “hip, black guy” is NOT who you want running the country....they want more of a grandfatherly type....IMHO...and, if the GOP is smart, they’ll have a “hip, black guy” for VP...

I am ashamed to say that I do, because I backed it at the time.

It was a multi front attack and a major part of it was dragging Newt's marriages before social conservatives. They neglected to mention, however, that Newt's first wife (Jackie Battley) was a sexual predator who had been boffing him in high school whilst she was his geometry teacher, or that she had separated from him and gone back to Georgia, or that it was she, not Newt that wanted the divorce.

Newt has messed up in his relationships, but nearly all kids who fall sexual victim to adults in authority over them later do.

That said, I am still for Santorum.

Beck supports Santorum. Had him on today.

I'm not so certain about that. He has been saying many "good things" about Romney and supports Romney. He has recently been promoting Santorum as a stalking candidate to keep him in the race to keep the conservative votes split. If you watched the debate last night, Beck is following Romney's lead in the hope to keep Santorum in the race as long as possible.

It might be crotchety old white guy, but THIS time, the old white guy will actually FIGHT BACK and point out the miserable failure of the past three years under the young hip black guy. That’s the difference.

Couldn’t agree with you more. But I’m not pushing Romney. I’m just stating the things that trouble me about Newt. For the record, the only donation I’ve given so far this season has been to the Santorum campaign.

Beck supports Romney and has dismissed every real threat to Romney, such as Palin, and Gingrich, while saying Romney is the only one who can win, and who is the adult, but like many Romney supporters, he likes a non-threatening fig leaf, currently that is
Santorum.

Sorry, no can do. I'll be supporting a conservative candidate instead.

It's been pointed out to you numerous times that your candidate is no more conservative than Newt, but you ignore it.

Its been pointed out to you that Santorum also supported the health insurance mandate, and agreed with Newt back in September on his illegal alien solution. Its been pointed out to you that your guy supports SOPA and opposes right-to-work. It's been pointed out to you that your guy has a long list of big spending, and other liberal initiatives.

FreeRepublic may have decided to go moderate. But I have not.

The reason why FreeRepublic seems moderate to you is because you ignore the evidence that is in front of you.
