Firebrand Free Republic Founder Endorses Newt Gingrich With Epic Call to Action
Fox News ^ | January 19, 2012 | Fox News

I'm officially endorsing Newt Gingrich for president today. Was going to wait until after Florida, but see no reason to delay. We need Newt to win in South Carolina and Florida to stop any possible momentum building up for the establishment big government, statist, abortionist RINO!!

With great respect for Jim Robinson and all he’s done here for us and our Republic, I just can’t get behind Newt Gingrich.

I’m doubtful many women will overlook his transgression in the voting booth too and this will show up in the South Carolina primary. Perhaps that will not prove out.

The most important thing is getting rid of Obama. Guess that leaves Romney warts and all.

The alternative is too horrible to contemplate. On this point, Gingrich was 100% correct.

Dan Rather, how’s he doing these days?”

Little Dan is still an icon of the progs and is often given voice by the old media.

Epic indeed. When I saw this I thought it was a made up freep headline, but it is the actual headline.

Good Job, Jim!

If it is Romney, the media will spin it as Hip, African-American Scholar President versus Slimy, Used-Car Salesman looking, Wall Street Insider Guy who isn’t different from Obama on many key issues.

I would rather have the crotchety old guy with a record of success than Romney’s sliminess whose only legislative success was when he moved so far left, he shared a botox clinic with Nancy Pelosi.

That is unfortunate. Gingrich is a hateful and angry person who cares only about himself. He is not worthy to be President of anything. Obama would win in a landslide if Gingrich is the candidate for the Republicans.

Regarding Santorum's attack on Gingrich and his time as speaker: Rick said he was there and recalled how terrible Gingrich was and how the conservatives were the ones who helped to throw him out. I seem to remember someone at some point (maybe Rush?) talking about how the media had the long knives out for Gingrich, especially after he became speaker, because he had gotten rid of Jim Wright, and he was an articulate conservative. I think Rush then also made the point that Gingrich's fellow conservatives and the other Republicans turned on the speaker rather than defend him because they were petrified of the media. The point was that while democrats defend their own, Republicans in the past have cut and run rather than fight and defend.

Does anyone else remember this?

“If Newt is the candidate, it will be “crotchety old white guy” versus “young, hip, black guy” all over again. “

You’re right, but isn’t it interesting that all the Occupy hipsters are fawning over Ronpaul, who is like 85??

“Nobody will admit to it, but everybody who is anybody monitors FR constantly.”

If someone with no knowledge of politics spent an hour on this site, then spent an hour over at DNCUnderground. they would come away knowing that people on the left are an angry mob of sexists, racists and statists who have absolutely no clue that they are the useful idiots of a leftwing agenda.

When you leave FR, you are more informed about the world and understand what Americans are facing.

Romney is not electable. He is “me to” and “dem lite”. EVERY time the GOP has run such a candidate they lost. When the GOP runs conservatives, they win.

You can not win elections without the base. Romney’s positions are so liberal that he will not carry the base. I wont vote for him even if he is the nominee. I would rather have divided government with the Congress in opposition to Obama than have a RINO pushing the liberal agenda. In that capacity, Romney will do more damage and not execute the repeals of the programs instituted by Obama.

Yes, you are right and Santorum is full of it. The Republicans got scared of how fast and hard Newt was playing, and they replaced him with the failed Dennis Hastert. This history vindicates Newt, not Rick Santorum and the rest of the lace panty House members.

The Hastert era started the House down the wrong road that ended up in massive defeat in 06. Shame shame shame on Rick S. for using that line of attack.

"Buckley’s rule — support the most conservative candidate who is electable."

Let me see, as I recall that worked real well with Bush 1, Dole, McCain.....???

Think that rule needs to be revised.

I disagree with JimRob on this but I have to say...

The fact that some random dude (JimRob) took it upon himself to advance a cause he felt passionate about and is now a leading voice able to mobilize and inspire hundreds of thousands of like minded persons is incredible.

His story is a testament to why this country is so great and deserves our efforts to save it. Any man, with passion, hard work, and faith, can accomplish the impossible in America. This is the New World still, it is still the land of opportunity.
