Yes, you are right and Santorum is full of it. The Republicans got scared of how fast and hard Newt was playing, and they replaced him with the failed Dennis Hastert. This history vindicates Newt, not Rick Santorum and the rest of the lace panty House members.

The Hastert era started the House down the wrong road that ended up in massive defeat in 06. Shame shame shame on Rick S. for using that line of attack.

Yes, I thought it was unfair of Santorum too. And while I’m not totally thrilled with Newt, Obama will have a billion dollars to trash our nominee no matter who he is. Atleast Gingrich will fight back.

There were secrets afoot in the deal that have never been adequately dealt with. When push came to shove and it was required of Hastert that he FIRE SOME OF THE GAY STAFFERS and TOSS OUT SOME OF THE GAY CONGRESS PEOPLE, he didn't!

Ken Mehlman was in charge at the RNC, and he was as gay as they come.

I've never quite figured out what they had on Hastert but maybe he wasn't just the "wrestling coach"~!

The 2006 election helped us clear the boards of some of those guys, but I do wonder what happened at the National Committee ~ they put Mehlman's protege in charge during the interregnum.

The party hierarchy still needs some pruning.
