Thank you. Watching Rick Perry today, I was sad to see him go. I’ve been a Newt supporter, but always liked Perry. He comes across as a real man, a man with calloused hands. I hope to see more of him in the future.

I shared this on a few threads over the years...but here is an old trick a pulmonary doc taught me...for lung congestion and cough...take 6 to 8 ounces of V8 or tomato juice...squeeze of lemon...and 20 (yes, TWENTY) drops of tobasco sauce.(VODKA OPTIONAL ;-) CHUG that sucker three times a day....and your lung issues will be clear in 48 hours TOPS

The Capsacian in the tobasco opens the bronchioles in the lungs...so the crap can come out ;-)
Give it a whirl

I’m just seeing the first half hour of the debate now.

Newt slammed a homer when he said:

“The reason Obama has your kids on your insurance till they are 26 is because they cant pay for their own. I have a message for the parents of America, I will give your children jobs so they can make their own way”!

(paraphrased)

Good observation: "In some respects he validated Newt's statement that Santorum is not up to the enormity of the job."

I think the Rick Perry supporters have changed their minds.

Or you might say our minds have been changed by circumstances.

The best candidate is no longer in the race.

So now it is GO NEWT!

Which candidate on stage is the most Pattonesque? Who will fight and lead? Newt gets my vote.

Awesome. You found the precise analog I've been looking for to describe Newt. No other candidate has anything close to the amount of fight, grit, determination, and downright pugnaciousness, that Newt does.

Of all the candidates, I trust him the most to actually go on the warpath to remove Obama from our White House. In short, Newt 'gets' that we're at war, and he's dressed for battle.

I was aghast by his post-debate interview, which was almost as tacky as his debate performance.

I could not beleive Rick was going along with the obviously false meme that Newt was somehow unstable. This is why he is not Presidential material.A real leader would not allow himself to be put in that position, and certainly not stay in it once it became obvious. All I could think of is that he certainly cut himself off from serious consideration in a Newt administration by being such a backstabber.

I hope your cough goes away and you can get a good night's sleep.

Hasn't affected the quality of your posts, though. ;)

“That’s what impresses me about Newt....very quick on his feet.”

That will be invaluable when dealing with the dirty tactics and gotcha-attempts by the Obama machine (MSM included in that). In fact, it’s a requirement.

That was my only misgiving about Rick Perry. In most election years, it wouldn’t have mattered so much - but in THIS one, there’ll be no room for error.

He and Newt were certainly partners in the GOP takeover in 1994.

Huh? IIRC, Santorum was a junior House member and ran for the US Senate in '94!

Didn't Santorum serve in the Senate 2 terms? '94 -2000; 2000-2006 and then get defeated?

There is no one in the GOP race that has voted for
More gov’t laws !
Newt expanded govt just like the rest but he went farther and supported
Amnesty , supported the Seiu scum against Hoffman in the NY race,
Tried to help San Fran Commie Nan ram thru Global warming laws in congress , created motor voter which gave the Dems massive voters fraud supported Romney care mandates ,and was a big govt lobbyist too !
Newt is a Rhino like the rest so big deal .
Do the tired Paul bot big govt smear is a joke ,
Newt and Rick S have very similar voting records but Rick dies not push global warming or Romneycare mandates !

Yep I agree. I would have to score it as follows

1 Newt
2 Romney
3 Paul
4 Santorum

Santorum did the worst in my view. He continues to spend all his time on petty attacks instead of articulating a vision and looking Presidential. He should bow out Monday. Paul made a few good points mixed in with his usual nonsense. Romney did OK considering what he has to defend. Newt did very well as usual and is persuasive. Newt should take South Carolina. We’ll see

Exactly. You know, politically Newt & Perry have always been the closest, so this endorsement is really no surprise. And I’ve always liked Newt-especially his accomplishments back in the 90s. His platform for this campaign is also solidly conservative. It’s just the baggage that needed to be overlooked to support him that has always been the problem.

I’m not talking the personal stuff, it’s more the appearing on the couch with Pelosi, knee-capping Paul Ryan, being in favor (for a while) of an individual mandate, the list goes on. I’m praying that Newt will stay disciplined and as Rush says tie up that other half of his brain (the erratic part). But even with all the warts, I’ll enthusiastically take Newt over what else is remaining.
