” i am tired of the elite media protecting Barack Obama”

Millions of Americans agree with that statement and ratings for the despicable alphabet news channels prove it. We'd rather clean toilets than watch them spew democrat propaganda.

How the lamestream media big name news commentators can draw huge salaries when no one is watching them is a question only the current administration, their donors and enablers can answer.

‘Big Government’ is a concept that is in direct conflict with the Catholic teaching of subsidiarity.

Not all Bishops are familiar with the concept of subsidiarity, so I will give you a pass while kindly suggesting you look it up.

Did Santorum just say his 7 year old father came here with his grandfather???? His dad was not a NBC?

As long as Rick's father was a US citizen at the time of his birth (on US soil), then Rick is a Natural Born Citizen. It's not necessary for his father to have been a NBC.

Same thing happened with Palin. After the I can see Russia from my house story broke, she was painted as an idiot. We all knew what she was really trying to say.

Good Lord! Sarah Palin never uttered those words. That was Tina Fey on SNL.

Newt won. Romney, Paul and Santorum were all tied for 2nd, imo. Romney got booed, fgs, so he definitely didn’t win, Paul seemed irrelevant and Santorum was trying to be something he’s not - tough.

"Yes Newt can debate however he is going to lose a lot of the womens vote"

It's that voting block that has gotten us into the situation we are currently in. Personally, I would not recommend pandering to them. JMHO

Most pundits don’t truly try to put themselves into someone’s head to understand them. They try to inject themselves into others’ thinking...which is totally backwards and explains nothing.
I think you pegged the aura surrounding this debate which explains the entire thing...and that is something I haven’t really seen from anybody trying to figure out what happened tonight.
romney and santorum were like sharks swimming quietly in circles believing they smelled Newt’s blood in the water. John King might well have saved Newt’s candidacy tonight by simply doing exactly what Newt KNEW he would do. And therein lies the difference between Newt...and everybody else.
One disagreement I might have with you, which doesn’t really pertain to your excellent summary, is the idea that the exwife thing will hurt Newt much, if at all. I actually think it will come back on the ex far more. She should never have done this.

Gingrich does support amnesty for some

That is not what he said.

Newt said that he supports giving illegals who've been (otherwise lawful) in this country for 25 years or more, some sort of registered recognition, though NOT legal residency or US citizenship - AND - he would require them to return to their country of origin to get in the back of the line to apply for US citizenship.

He also mentioned requiring such people to have a US citizen sponsor.

I agree with you. Mercifully, my coughing spells spared me from some of the most boring parts!

I read your comments above your post to me, and I have to agree with you regarding Santorum. Until tonight, I never paid him much attention, but he’s little or no different from an argumentative teenager. I was aghast by his post-debate interview, which was almost as tacky as his debate performance.

“I see some posters thought Newt made a great closing statement. I hope so.”

He did, and it got resounding cheers and applause. As I said, Ron Paul smirked when Newt was describing how dangerous BHO is - which was rather appalling.

If you like, time it so you can catch it - re-air of the debate is 10-12 and 1-3 (central time). Closing statements were in the last 10 minutes (approx.).

That “pro-Big-Government, pro-regulation” is nothing more than the power of the Church and a Catholic education showing.

The Principle of Subsidiarity

One of the key principles of Catholic social thought is known as the principle of subsidiarity. This tenet holds that nothing should be done by a larger and more complex organization which can be done as well by a smaller and simpler organization. In other words, any activity which can be performed by a more decentralized entity should be. This principle is a bulwark of limited government and personal freedom. It conflicts with the passion for centralization and bureaucracy characteristic of the Welfare State.

This is why Pope John Paul II took the “social assistance state” to task in his 1991 encyclical Centesimus Annus. The Pontiff wrote that the Welfare State was contradicting the principle of subsidiarity by intervening directly and depriving society of its responsibility. This “leads to a loss of human energies and an inordinate increase of public agencies which are dominated more by bureaucratic ways of thinking than by concern for serving their clients and which are accompanied by an enormous increase in spending.”
