Suggestion to Gingrich, Santorum, Perry and respective supporters
RealClearPolitics Republican presidential primary polls | Jan 17, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/17/2012 3:32:52 PM PST by Jim Robinson

RealClear Republican Presidential Polls as of January 17:

South Carolina, Monmouth University: Romney 33, Gingrich 22, Paul 12, Santorum 14, Perry 6

South Carolina, Rasmussen Reports: Romney 35, Gingrich 21, Paul 16, Santorum 16, Perry 5

Florida, PPP (D): Romney 41, Gingrich 26, Santorum 11, Paul 10, Perry 4

Florida, Sunshine State News/VSS: Romney 46, Gingrich 20, Santorum 12, Paul 9, Perry 3

Nationwide ABC News/Wash Post Romney 36, Gingrich 16, Santorum 13, Paul 16, Perry 9

Nationwide Gallup Tracking: Romney 34, Gingrich 15, Santorum 15, Paul 12, Perry 6

Like it or not, the trend has been clear for weeks. If we wish a conservative to be our nominee, Perry should drop out of the race and we should coalesce around Gingrich or Santorum. As long as all three or even two of the three remain in the race the conservative vote will be split and RINO Romney will get the nomination.

Gingrich should challenge Santorum to a series of Lincoln-Douglas style one-on-one debates and if there is a clear winner, then the loser should drop out, or in the very least, we may be able to better decide which one is better suited to take on Romney and Obama.

May our very best conservative take on and defeat Romney/Paul and then wipe out Obama!!

We have had one election and one caucus. The talking heads tell us over and over that "It's over."

It's hasn't even started yet, IMO!

"Gingrich should challenge Santorum to a series of Lincoln-Douglas style one-on-one debates and if there is a clear winner..."

In late November when Newt was running around blathering about how he would show up at each of Obama's campaign stops and challenge him to a L-D debate, and Newt enjoined both Cain and Huntsman in an L-D debate, Santorum also challenged Newt to a one-on-one.

Shortly thereafter, Newt's campaign went entirely silent on the matter. The Santorum campaign has not received a reply. If Newt had challenged a candidate to a debate and the other party failed to reply, every post from Newt fans on the matter would include the word, "chicken" or "coward."

Santorum won’t drop out. He’ll put himself ahead of the country. He’s not even in the same league as Newt. I could see Perry being sensible. Romney gets smoked by Obama in this scenario. Country goes down the tubes....all because of Santorum not giving Her a chance.

Right now Perry is tied or ahead of Gingrich in delegates. Perey dropping out is nonsense.

“Rick Santorum is the Huckabee of the 2012 campaign.”

You mean Rick is the Fredawannabe.

McLame 33%
HUCK 30%

Thompson 15% (Allowing his pal, McLame to SQUEAK out a three point win in SC)

I believe that is a little over the top, but you are certainly entitled to believe it.

For Pete's sake, there has been only 1 GOP PRIMARY and 1 CAUCUS to-date! 48 states and various territories have yet to even SPEAK! We need to stop carrying the MSM's talking points water for them and call them on this and insist that this race is in no way sewed up. I am being very careful of my words on either Gingrich or Perry at this point, as I would support either of them as the Republican Nominee. Not so for Slick Romney and that idiot Libertarian in bed with Hamas, Hezboallah and Boko Haram, Ron Paul. Let's get not only real here, but fair.

What's really scary is that Newt said he's decided to stay in after SC even if he loses. So what the hell was he going to do? Run the two Ricks out then let Romney cruise unopposed to victory?

I'm begging you, Perry & Santorum, don't drop out, it's way too early.

I guess I have to reluctantly agree...except that people forget, Rick Perry is still the governor of Texas and doesn’t really NEED a cabinet position. Texas is a big enough job as it is and if I was him, I would want to stay there where I’m known and doing what seems to be a great job. He is still in because his big donors WANT him in.
Santorum as VP might work since he knows the Congress inside and out, so that is one option.
But Newt is rhe fighter. And that is definitely what we need right now. If it doesn’t happen, we are kissing America as we have known it goodbye.

Not going to happen... Nobody will get out before S.C. is done and over with. Ego and personal ambition will prevent it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but NONE of these RCP polls are from AFTER Newt's triple Grand Slam last night and Romney getting picked off trying to steal a base.

Haven’t you heard - Rubio, Jindal are not natural born citizens and so ineligible to be the VP.

Do you want to help soetoro/obama/soebarkah complete the destruction of article 2 natural born citizen requirement for the office of the president?

if the Conservatives get behind a Gingrich/Santorum ticket a good chunk of people now polling for Mittens will come over.. right now a huge chunk of Romney’s backers are only backing him because they don’t see anybody close and don’t want to hurt the Republican chances in November.. plus Gingrich gets to demolish Romney all over the country before the big ones in March.. it will be Reagan(Gingrich) vs GHW Bush(Romney)1980 all over again and we liked how that turned out

I don't think that's what he said MissM. I think he said he would be delighted if Santorum endorsed him, if he were to drop out - the reporter asked him, provoked the comment if you will. Another MSM driven jab at Newt.

It’s January.

If Perry drops out, there goes the competition and the primary elections become moot.

Not only that, but both Santorum and Gingrich are tainted.

Santorum has the specter of Specter and his loss in Pennsylvania. Gingrich has 3 wives (imagine him defending the Defense of Marriage Act?), muddled his response just last month as to when life begins, and those balanced budgets depended on cu . Neither know what they’re talking about when they talk about creating jobs or gun rights and both have a long record of “crossing the aisle” and forgetting to come back.

Part of the reason that Romney is always in front is the script that he’s the front-runner. And part of the reason that Perry is trailing is the repetitive script that he can’t win because of mistakes in his first couple of debates.

I’m still convinced that Governor Perry is the right man for the job. He’s had one wife, has executive experience, and has always been pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-state’s rights, pro-business. He’s not just saying these things because he should: he understands what he says when he talks about all of the above.

He’s the only one of the 5 remaining candidates other than Paul who still has a job and the only one who hasn’t been running for President for over a year.

I’d think more people would have noticed how fast he learned debating, and how much he improved. But no: the consensus is he goofed up in September, so it’s all over.

I’m wondering who dug this up - Paul, Romney, Dems? It’s getting so ugly that the wives are getting dragged in (Callista Gingrich was the recipient of some uncalled for comments over the weekend). But then again, we knew it was going to be one of the nastiest campaigns in history and it’s obviously ‘no holds barred’.
