All their wealth comes because of oil. Without the oil, they will be as they were for hundreds of years—before all their obscene wealth from oil-—desperately poor and insignificant. They benefit directly because they are muslims and because of the oil in the Middle East—doesn’t really matter—that oil money feeds all the Muslim countries.

We become independent so we can’t be bribed or used. Then WE control-—it is in Machiavelli. Will we do immoral acts....Yes, we have to if we want to survive. It is unavoidable with people who are as evil as the muslim mindset.

—for all the oil states want the same as Egypt and Jordan-—the destruction of the Jews and a Caliphate.

We are slaves to the oil so we do not “offend” muslims even in “non” oil states. We need to realize that the forces of islam are antithetical to American ideals—should not be tolerated to spread and inhabit “free” nations.

The Muslims are fascist—were in bed with the Nazis—and as such, should be allowed the same “rights’ as proclaimed “Nazis”. Their koran and beliefs are evil and make slaves of all. It is a non rational fascist cult—and why the Pope can call it one of the “great” religions is still one of the most puzzling statements I have ever heard. Next I suppose the pope will state that Jim Jones was also one of the greatest preachers. It makes the same amount of sense.

We need to get back to REALITY and COMMON SENSE. Where is Thomas Paine when you need him?

The difference is, of course, that none of your examples made up ‘whole-cloth’ their national history.

Whereas the Palestinians have... and then use the fabrication to justify the slaughter of innocents.

And that is a vile abomination that must be snuffed out before others try it themselves.

I would also point out that not every ‘people’ has a nation to call home. Tibetans, Kurds, Gypsies, Uighurs, Tamils, etc, etc, etc... do not have a nation to call their own.

What makes the Palestinians any more deserving? In my book, their fabrication of history and their slaughter of innocents make them *LESS* deserving of a homeland than any other people, not more.

And as to what do about their agitation... expel them. Jordan did it with the PLO. Lebanon as well.

Heck, Poland expelled their Germans after WWII. Pakistan, their Indians... and in India, their Pakistanis (more of a religious expulsion, though... with non-Muslims fleeing proto-Pakistan and muslims leaving to join the ‘Dar al-Islam’ of Pakistan).

So it’s not exactly a bad practice.

And then, should none of the countries surrounding Israel care for them... well, that shows the world exactly what Islam truly believes. Bares it all for the world to see.

Which is another net benefit for the world, as then all the lies and half-truths which Islam uses to lull the world will then be ripped away, exposing it’s true heart (one way or the other).

The only people called Palestinians were the Jewish settlers prior to 1967. These Jews were considered settlers in the Palestinian Mandate set aside by the League of Nations as a home for the dispersed Jews of the world. Unfortunately the British reneged from their promise and gave two thirds of the mandate to a Saudi Prince and named the country Trans-Jordan.

Miraculously, once all the Arab armies were defeated for the third time (1947, 1956, and 1967)the term Palestinians started being applied to the Arab citizens, who had been given Jordanian citizenship prior to 1967.

Jordan backed off its claim to the West Bank, which it had occupied since 1947 (Jordan already occupies two thirds of the Palestinian Mandate promised to Jews as a state).

A new issue arose, the big bad Goliath State of Israel was now oppressing the newly named Palestinians, most of whom had immigrated into the area from other Arab states in order to create an increased Arab presence in the Mandate.

Read Innocent Abroad by Samuel Clemons. The area was desolate and had very few residents in the late 1800’s. Jewish settlers moved to their homeland as a result of Pogoms in Russia and discrimination elsewhere. They drained the swamps, irrigated the deserts, and prospered. Arabs migrated also.

Jerusalem, until the Arab armies occupied it in 1948, was predominately a Jewish city. Between 1948 and 1967 Jordan destroyed Jewish worship centers, dug up Jewish graves, gave land and property that Jews had paid dearly for to Arabs, and built up the myth of the Dome of the Rock being the second holiest Muslim site. King Hussein covered the Dome of the Rock with gold. Until this time the Dome of the Rock was a run down mosque. There are pictures of it from the 1800’s and early 1900’s to prove that it was run down. Please realize all those who call themselves Arabs are originally from the Arabian Peninsula and went out from there to conquer the world for Islam. Jewish people are of the tribe of Judah (the Southern Kingdom) and Jerusalem was its capital. Since 1000 BC, no other nation has ever had Jerusalem as its capitol. There has never been a Palestinian nation, a Palestinian capitol, a Palestinian government, until Israel bowed to pressure to let Arafat back in, with the promise from him that he would make peace, and recognize Israels right to exist.

according to the UN resolution that created Israel, Jordan IS the Palestinians land, that was the division...Trans-Jordan was the Arab land, and they got a hell of a lot more land than the Jews did.

You make good points, Youaskedfor it.

If Newt claims the Palis are an ‘invented’ people, does he also say who invented them?

I would say, as contained in your post, a great deal of credit could be given to the British. In fact, most of what we see as ‘countries’ in the Middle East were invented by the British, including Israel.

The British ruled the Palestinian region by mandate of the U.N. before the Jewish settlers won and established the state of Israel. The Jews themselves referred to the land as Palestine before they settled on the name Israel.

I don’t recall how far back the Arabic people lived in Palestine, but they were there in 1948.

Arabs reside IN Israel also. However, their citizenship status is different from Jews.

I’m sure that Newt, being the college professor he is, is aware of the history but he knows evangelicals are not. They have invented Israel in their own romanticized way. Israelis are more realistic and most -— even the most Zionist -— would not agree with Gingrich.

Okay, just to be clear. You're saying the US should invade the Middle East to force the Egyptians and Jordanians to absorb the Palestinians. Is that right? How many American lives is that goal worth?

Wonderful history lesson, Yulee, thank you. The more one learns, the more complicated it is. However, Jerusalem itself is the main point of contention: the perpetual tug-of-war among Jew, Christian and Muslim.

For Newt to put this complicated situation into a simple sound-bite does not do justice to all concerned, including Israeli Jews.

I wonder how many FReepers and evangelicals realize that Israel is prepared to accede to a two-state solution. The problem is the Palis refuse to negotiate because they want all of Jerusalem. They had their day, though, when the Ottoman Empire ruled Jerusalem for 1000 years. The best that can be attained is for all three to have their ‘place’ in Jerusalem.

The Brits did more than renege on that....in 1947 the Arab Legion was armed with Spitfires, Tanks and the latest Brit small arms...the Israelis had war surplus seized ME 109’s and beat up mausers....stomped those goat lovers too...

The only people called Palestinians were the Jewish settlers prior to 1967.

Nonsense. From the New York Times in 1921:

"JERUSALEM, April 10.--The political horizon in Palestine is clouded by an agitation of Moslems and Christians against the Zionists, who they believe are striving to obtain control of the country and drive the Palistinians out of business."link
Defining these people out of existence isn't going to make them go away.

Correction to #111. Turks did not rule for 1000 yrs, maybe 500. Before that, Jerusalem was under various Arab rulers, most notably the caliphate of Abd al- Malik.

Ever notice that Israelis all live in “settlements”

...and they are occupiers. Meaning they stole the land, instead of how it really came into their hands.

By the way, the same UN mandate that created Israel uses the term “Palestinian citizens” repeatedly.
