Agree. But, after what Herman Cain has been through this past week - and he still had to prepare for this and other appearances - I give him a big, huge two thumbs up.

Like Rush said...Herman Cain does not back down.

I did not mean to come across snarky. Apologies if I did. :)

Actually, it turned into more of a discussion than a debate. There wasn’t too much disagreement on things between the two, it was more of a forum to allow them to formulate and articulate answers and state their positions.

...no bickering, no calling each other names, just two men having an honest discussion

It's amazing what can be learned of candidates when there is no MSM moderator to stir up the discussions.

Spot on.

This was a wonderful evening with these two great Americans, and an evening of substance.

I knew if Cain held his own with Newt they would both come out of this looking fantastic. I think that happened.

What we saw tonight is something very unusual in presidential politics. And this is going to be a very unusual presidential election cycle. So, it figures!

Best debate in my life time

Absolutely!

(And I remember watching the Kennedy/Nixon debate!)

Cain impressed me tonight, but I’m still down for Newt.

Right.

In reality someone needing a moment to consider a question before mouthing off is actually a plus in my book. Hopefully, people will not let the media dictate to them anymore.

Lucky you. I just had to clean up the mess I made from seeing him muddle through the process of signing up in New Hampshire....it took about 10 guys to explain the process. :) Can he be any more stupid?

For Cain to hold his own against Newt shows how articulate and a brilliant Conservative he is. Great on his feet.

Pray for America

But, the conventional wisdom here on FR said that Newt would mop the floor with Cain. It didn’t happen. Anyone else care to say anything bad about Cain or Newt for that matter?

Of all the candidates, the only one I see who could demolish Mitt in a debate, and wipe the floor with Obama, is Newt. I really like Cain. I just wish he were a better debater, with a better command of the issues, especially foreign policy issues

Yep...that's how I'm seeing it as well...CAin will have trouble in a debate with Obama...he's got little time to learn what he will need for that. Newt knows the BOO....and how he thinks and speaks....he'll nail him to the wall.

My dream ticket at this point would be Cain/Gingrich

Agreed. I think 90 minutes can’t cover every subject. Let’s have more...and pick ONE subject..national security, crony captitalism the Wall street-Washington revolving door, occupy everything/anarchy vs. citizens movements, contrast the differences, energy policies, bringing jobs back home, stimulating manufacturing and innovation, regulatory reform...FDA, EPA, Education....each one could last longer than 90 minutes. One subject at a time.

I am leaning towards cain but I am not going to agree about your premise ! If Newt wanted to mop the floor with cain he would have done it in split second !
