Presidential candidate Herman Cain said Sunday that he didnt believe racism was a major factor holding minorities back in America, asserting instead that African Americans had a level playing field on which to advance economically.
I don't believe racism in this country today holds anybody back in a big way, Cain said on CNNs State of the Union. Are there some elements of racism? Yes. It gets back to if we don't grow this economy, that is a ripple effect for every economic level, and because blacks are more disproportionately unemployed, they get hit the worst when economic policies don't work. That's where it starts.

This has just got to make the Leftist media foam at the mouth.
Actually, self-racism is a far bigger problem in the black community than racist bias by non blacks against the black community. Cain would do well to hop on that. Stopping the pity party is the first step towards success.
People tend to make their own insurmountable obstacles for the most part. The thought that you are a ‘victim’ can indeed hold you back. I’m a white male, younger, I’ve had to deal with actual racism. I don’t play the blame game though. It is what it is.
That could apply to all 'economically disadvantaged' citizens but the point is accurate and needed to be said..
They weren't held back because of racism, Cain said. People sometimes hold themselves back because they want to use racism as an excuse for them not being able to achieve what they want to achieve.
Amen, Mr. Cain! Well stated and the kind of honesty I believe America is looking for. The race hustlers? Not so much. The blowback from the race pimps should be interesting but frankly, this kind of forthright statement by Herman Cain is making him more and more attractive as the Republican nominee for president in 2012.
“There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.” - Booker T Washington (1911)
In reality, there really isn't a democRAT party anymore, just a bunch of snot-nosed incompetents hell-bent on exploiting the poverty they create.
I seem to notice that many blacks and hispanics have great contempt for Whites, which I would view as probably a racist attitude, and well......it’s a real turn off and this could be hurting Blacks and Hispanics if that attitude is evident in their every day interaction with people.
Once again, Herman is using common sense.
I’m quite shocked to see him say this, to tell you the truth. While I agree with him completely, its still a shock to hear ANY Presidential candidate say such a thing, not just an African American one. Talk about un-PC. Cain is my hero, seriously. I am still not sure who I would endorse, but Cain is certainly more than enough for me.
Sometimes ya have to work really hard to get what you want. Even then sometimes you fail.
Lifes tough
“Excuse-ism” is the biggest enemy of black people today.
Very good answers by Cain, and professionally done, in that he left an out if something he said wasn’t exactly right.
In other words, if you say “No black suffers from racism today”, then the Dems (or a Republican) will drag out someone who literally did suffer and prove him wrong.
Cain seems to be getting better as this goes on.
I hate to say it this early in the season, but every day Cain says or does something to convince me that he's the right man for the presidency.
America needs Cain's kind of leadership because he tells the truth and he has common sense and good judgment.
That said, Black America REALLY needs Cain's kind of leadership because they are in deep trouble. The Obamas, Sharptons, Jeremiah Wrights, Jesse Jacksons et al are leading them into desolation and despair.
Hear hear Herman....rhetoric I like
God bless Mr. Cain for saying what few dare say.
I wasn’t especially keen on his saying that being poor was always the fault of the poor, but this statement is so manifestly true—with the caveat that he included—and so rarely uttered.
That sound you hear is the sound of liberal heads exploding.
I like Cain, too. A lot.
Does anybody know if there is a 9-9-9 campaign out there? I know it is only his opening shot...but can’t help but think it would be a great way to raise seed money. $9.99...lots of people can afford that.
