Climbing A 1786 Foot Tall Tower (Video)

Is this the scariest job in the world?
Seven minutes of pure Hell (and I'm just talking about watching this -- my knees are still wobbly!)
However much they pay these guys, it's not enough!

I tried to watch it again and I can’t! I’m getting sweaty and queasy while he free climbs. You could offer me 200 million dollars and I still wouldn’t do it.

I always wonder how they build these things in the first place. Seems to me it would be even worse to work on a still incomplete tower.

During construction, segments are LOWERED by helicopter, then workers bolt them together..

I used to be one of those guys.
The “highlight” was climbing a 500 foot tall tower and everything was going well.
Until the 40 mph wind unexpectedly started up.
The pucker factor was high, even for an experienced climber like me.
It may have been the longest 40 minutes of my life climbing down from it.
Cheers,

The hard part is going down. Your muscles are better to climb up than down.

Ugh. I couldn’t do that if my life depended on it. To make matters worse the lighting conditions are rotten and the weather looks like it is deteriorating. I can’t imagine how dangerous things would get if a 10-knot wind kicked up or it started raining. And if lightning starts flying you are a goner. Those towers get hit dozens of times in even a mild thunderstorm.

I can't watch it either, and had to stop after about a minute.
My stomach gets too queasy just looking at it.

Try the word the docs use: 'Dribble'.
You'll feel better about yourself.
