Wallace makes a big deal about Cain winning the FL straw poll, ignores that Bachmann won an Iowa straw poll.

[Straw polls are about as useful as non-scientific polls on the Internet.]

Didn’t Paul win a staw poll a few weeks ago, too?

Every US Senator should be quizzed over why the Senate Democrats have not passed a budget and why so many House bills are not brought up for a vote.

Republican Senators as to why they are not more vocal and demanding and Democrat Senators as to why they are not pressuring their leadership?

Furthermore, don’t they realize or accept that spending bills come from the House BECAUSE the US House is body closest to the people and represents what the people want?

FNS Panel Question:

Will Kristol be pushing Cristie?

None of the candidate seem up to it, per Kristol.

[One debate does not make a candidate. Many earlier polls were showing ‘other’ getting 70%, however.]

The FNS panel is spinning Cain’s victory as a vote against Mitt and Perry. Go talk to the Floridians who participated in the poll and find out why they gave Cain their vote!

Too bad he also happens to be an Israeli.

(but he speaks with a Philadelphia accent) He is currently the default leader of the free world.

Very pleased Herman Cain won Florida, which is important, as every Florida straw poll winner has gone on to win the nomination. That may not be true if Palin gets in, but it is definitely a major accomplishment.

Of all of the people on the stage at the debate, Cain was the ONLY one who had an understandable plan, did not attack other candidates, and had a sense of optimism. Very Reaganesque.

I do not think he should be underestimated. And I do not think his winning was based on showing the MSM that we aren’t racists. It has to do with his message and personality.

Just imagine how the various “Big Media Screaming Faces” would be hammering on this lack of a budget if Republicans were the ones holding it up. They would have charts and chalk boards and iPads and foaming at the mouth guests...

Chris Matthews idea of “fun politics” is when leftist activists destroy other people's stuff.

Someone should have kicked his ass when he was scheming with O'Neil.

WOW! (getting back into chair)

Kristol just lauded Cain for being the only one talking about scrapping the tax code, ideas appropriate for the times.

As " weak" Governors are in Texas, I assume they're not required to do much negotiating. That's probably done in the "strong" legislature. Sad to say, but Perry looks like he'd not be a very good negotiator--debater if you will---who thinks well on his feet.

It appears to me that Perry's not fully into the job of winning the Presidency. He had to be tugged into the race. I believe he'd all but kicked off his boots on his retirement couch, but was enticed into one last try for a really big prize.

I believe he said he'd give it a try, using the style that carried the decade in Texas. That may not be enough for this job. I think he believes if the Rick Perry style doesn't work, so be it. He's not willing to work very hard at it. He'll happily head back to the couch.

Hume says Perry showed himself as no conservative because of his position on illegal immigration.

[Trouble is, most of the GOP field score a D on illegal immigration issues. They resort to the same ole canard: ‘secure the border’ (whatever that means), go to the end of the line, pay a fine, yada yada yada.]

I can see the MSM and CBC make an accusation that the TEA party / conservatives / GOP selection of Cain is a function of "copy cat" (not picking for the policies he articulates), and is itself an example of racism.

In other words, that the selection of Cain isn't evidence that the conservative movement is color blind; but rather, is evidence of the opposite.

Anything to divert attention from the policy issues.

Kristol!! I am on record since 2000 for despising that guy. Still think he instigated the Jeffords jump, know that he was the source of Quayle’s break with Dad Bush (which contributed to the loss), remember him pushing hard for Colin Powell until he gave up and went for McCain, know that he sat in with McCain advisers in lunch meetings to figure out how to stick it to Bush from the Senate.

Bad guy who skulks around the corridors of power causing trouble. Anytime he sticks his oar in, the waters get very troubled.

I don’t understand the idea that Sarah Palin would be a better candidate, much less have a great chance of winning, than Herman Cain.

Great points Nauti, I wrote this before the straw poll and yes Cain is a great choice. He came to an event in Oregon and spoke, even though I couldn’t make his speech people were very impressed. He could beat Obama and the debates would be worth the price of admission.

Pray for America
