Some Of Sarah Palin's Ideas Cross The Political Divide
The New York Times ^ | 9/9/2011 | Anand Girinharadas

CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS — Let us begin by confessing that, if Sarah Palin surfaced to say something intelligent and wise and fresh about the present American condition, many of us would fail to hear it.

That is not how we’re primed to see Ms. Palin. A pugnacious Tea Partyer? Sure. A woman of the people? Yup. A Mama Grizzly? You betcha.

But something curious happened when Ms. Palin strode onto the stage last weekend at a Tea Party event in Indianola, Iowa. Along with her familiar and predictable swipes at President Barack Obama and the “far left,” she delivered a devastating indictment of the entire U.S. political establishment — left, right and center — and pointed toward a way of transcending the presently unbridgeable political divide.

That speech too, IMO, identified herself as the "kind of politician/president we need"

Every scenerio posed was answered with ... what she has already accomplished.

This speech was the straw that broke my skepticle back ... Sarah's running and damned cleverly, too.

Imagine this political acumen and bravado against any of our enemies ... both foreign and domestic?

What would Hoffa say about president Palin?

Sarah is a true populist politician and may, if she feels it necessary, run as a third party candidate.

Not the slightest chance of that happening.

Holy guacamole! That was in the NY Times? Someone there actually gets it? Was that a pig that just flew by?

KG...

You are very fair, yes Ignorance means you do not know, not exposed to something. The author is now, and perhaps it is an "A Hah" moment for them.

How he go it by his editors is beyond me, they spoke the unspeakable for the NYT's. Perhaps even their Pinchy S. and the rest of the leftist minions are feeling the pinch of Obamanomics and are feeling the need to open up to a broader audience... Nah....

Evidently there is a provision in Sharia law that says you have to honor infidels before you stone them or try to behead them. At the very least, the Communists and Socialists as represented by Bloomberg in NY will demand a retraction.

They want her to run.

When the MSM wrote any favorable article about Bachman when she first entered the race, she was beaten to a pulp by Palin fans.

She was called a RINO Mitt Bot stalking horse.

When it is Palin? Well, the NYT is now in her camp. LOL

While I agree with you, there are many who would never read her speech and this gave them the nuts and bolts of it very concisely. We have a dear friend who is scared to death of her and us tea partyers. He believes the hype about how dangerous we are, that we are threatening the lives of democratic Congress-critters, that we are going to take our guns to every state capitol and demand our wishes or start shooting. He is not alone in this belief. This is why this article is important, in my opinion. Maybe it is their one article to look balanced, but what an article!

And he’s 100% right...this is the political realignment we’ve been talking about since 2008 that very few politicians seem to have grasped yet.

Not surprising that Mrs. Palin has.

I wonder if Sarah used that speech to set up a proposal to eliminate the income tax and replace it with a national sales tax, because that must be done if one wishes to stop the alliance of government, big business, and other special interests?

No, she won’t. She said in her book she won’t run as a 3rd party candidate.

Do you have any specific reason or evidence to make such a definitive statement?

I've noticed that Sarah seems to march to her own drummer.

I doubt the NYT has all at once seen the light. When someone that has always spewed total venom for you, and for some odd reason, they resort to a flattery, the first thing you do is ask “what are they up to”? LOL

I doubt the NYT has all at once seen the light.

Agreed. I also agree that some candidates get beat up for saying something when others have people falling at their feet for saying the same.

Ahhh. Kansasgirl answered the question so, unless she changes her mind, you are correct.

Fortunately, women never change their minds.

It’s a beginning. This is one of their online writers, but he’s got an interesting background — http://anand.ly/bio

There are honest and insightful observers on the scene. It’s guaranteed that most of the Left have no understanding that this is part of what Palin is and has always been up in Texas.

Her response to Hoffa and previous union writings are in a way similar. Being against corrupt Establishment RINOs isn’t being a leftist, BTW.

I knew what you meant. Only online eh? Should have known that wouldn't make the print version NYT.

Oh, come on—if the exact same article were written about Perry, Palin fans would be saying it’s proof he’s a RINO, and you know it.
