My brother, Rush, said on his program Thursday that Donald Trump, in taking the fight directly to President Obama, has provided a winning blueprint for defeating him in 2012.
Rush was referring to the way in which Trump -- think what you will about him and his politics -- has boldly challenged President Obama on a number of issues, including the notorious birth certificate fracas, obviously unconcerned about fallout from the liberal media.
The issue here is not Obama's birth certificate; it is Trump's aggressive, offensive posture in challenging Obama across the board. He rightly recognizes that America's financial condition is in shambles and contends that Obama's incoherent approach to foreign policy is making the U.S. a laughingstock in the international community.
Trump is not my candidate for a number of reasons, including that I don't believe he's been reliably conservative over the years, but I have no doubt that Republicans can learn great lessons from his direct, fearless approach.

Sorry, but this doesn't make any sense. Of course the major issue is the birth certificate. Why do we think Trump has emphasized it so much? These are not mutually exclusive alternatives.
Attack Obama, yes. And attack him where he is vulnerable, yes. Nowhere is he more vulnerable than on the issue that he is probably an illegal alien posturing as our President.

I agree, people in the conservative media are afraid of this issue. Trump is gaining attention, because of this issue. Mark Levin just claimed it’s not going to save this country.
Sarah has punched Zero in the face many times, on many issues, but doesn’t seem to want to touch the birther issues. Maybe she’s been advised not to.
I’m glad Trump is hammering the point home and I pray he has some solid evidence that the media and steeple voters can’t ignore.

Mr. Limbaugh is letting Trump do the dirty work while he publicly postures that Obama’s background is a minor issue. I hope Trump’s snooping will answer some of the numerous questions about Obama’s past.
As I have said, the recent Trump phenom is not so much about birtherism per se, but about the general backlash against the political Hack Elites who think they can tell the American people what they may and may not ask about their president or presidential candidates.
Yes, the BC issue does have a foundation in the Constitution, making it a particular scam if it were to turn out Barry is not eligible.
But the larger point is that the American people simply will not tolerate someone telling they have no right to EVEN ASK certain questions of their president/candidates. When, in fact, the American people have the right to ask any and all questions they want to ask, and to keep asking them if they want, until those questions are answered to THEIR — not the media’s, not the elite’s -— satisfaction.
Even people who really don’t have any dog in the BC or NBC hunt have reached the point of being appalled at the reaction to someone simply asking a question.
Hell’s Bells, if the American people for whatever reason want to see a candidate’s school records, medical records, or whatever -— they should be “allowed” to ask/demand them just because they, for whatever reason, think the information is pertinent.
If someone doesn’t want to provide them, fine. But it’s not acceptable to say people must stop asking if they feel they have not gotten sufficient information in response.
I thought Angela the Caller made some good points today. However, I also think that no matter what Rush had said, it would not have been as effective as Trump saying it, now, in the context of possibly running for the presidency.
Hannity did special after special before the election on Barry’s background and questions about said background.
There is a time and a season for everything.
I agree with David: the point here is that this is about much more than the BC or NBC.
It is about people being sick and tired of political hack elites trying to say there are some things that they can declare "off limits" from inquiry by the American people.
This saying bears repeating:
The American people barely tolerate being governed. They will not be ruled.
Even people who know NOTHING about the birther issue still have reached the point of being appalled that anyone who even asks a reasonable question about Obama or his background is subject to attempts at being shut down.

Nothing Rush could have said over these last years could have even come close to having the impact of Trump saying these things on LSM shows in the context of actually possibly running for president (i.e., “threatening” to take these issues OFFICIALLY into the presidential race).
