Sorry, but this doesn't make any sense. Of course the major issue is the birth certificate. Why do we think Trump has emphasized it so much? These are not mutually exclusive alternatives.
Attack Obama, yes. And attack him where he is vulnerable, yes. Nowhere is he more vulnerable than on the issue that he is probably an illegal alien posturing as our President.

I agree, people in the conservative media are afraid of this issue. Trump is gaining attention, because of this issue. Mark Levin just claimed it’s not going to save this country.
I agree with David: the point here is that this is about much more than the BC or NBC.
It is about people being sick and tired of political hack elites trying to say there are some things that they can declare "off limits" from inquiry by the American people.
This saying bears repeating:
The American people barely tolerate being governed. They will not be ruled.
Even people who know NOTHING about the birther issue still have reached the point of being appalled that anyone who even asks a reasonable question about Obama or his background is subject to attempts at being shut down.
