Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones (R) will officially kick off her bid for retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's (R-Texas) Senate seat Tuesday at an event in Dallas.
It's the first stop on what will be a statewide tour to hit 14 cities over the next four days.
"I am running for Senate because our federal government is out of control," Jones said in a statement. "We have to rein in out of control spending and debt, ban wasteful pork and earmarks, secure our borders and get government off the backs of businesses so they can grow and create desperately-needed jobs."
Ames Jones first entered the Senate fray in 2009 after Hutchison announced her intention to resign her Senate seat to focus on a bid for governor. Hutchison later reneged on that pledge.
The Republican primary field in 2012 is expected to be a crowded one and, along with Ames Jones, already includes fellow Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams, a favorite of many Tea Party groups in the state.

Jones’ term on the Railroad Commission expires in January 2013; Williams’ in January 2015.
You must take your tea from lead cups like the truther nut Medina.
You Texans will decide but I know who I'm exited about, Williams. That's the rat party's worst nightmare. I don't care for anyone else running an messing that possibility up.
I remember supporting Debra Medina for Governor until she made a ridiculous gaffe during an interview.
Why exactly is it considered “nutty” to be suspicious of government? Is this not a “conservative” site? Why is it “nutty” to question the veracity of an entity that lies to us and steals from us and generally treats us like cattle daily?
But what would really send a politician into the twilight zone is their opinion on the Kennedy assassination if it differs from the government-approved orthodox view, right?
The people get the government they deserve.
Strike one.
Because, you can trust the government, right? They'd never lie, you know? The government isn't made up of evil men who would do whatever they could to advance their objectives.
They once considered the Weimar Republic the height of civilization.
You don't have to believe the Bush admin was behind it to believe the government is probably lying about something regarding 9/11. The federal government is not trustworthy. In fact, the federal government has done more to destroy your wealth, freedom, prosperity, peace and liberty than any raghead terrorists could ever hope to do.
Debra Medina is a good Christian woman. Her 9/11 truther beliefs are therefore irrelevant.
I’m sure the U.S. government lies to us about a great many things, but the “9/11 Truthers” are a bunch of nutjobs who believe that the U.S. government, not al Qaeda, attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Can you see the distinction? If you really think that the “9/11 Truthers” are a legitimate group with legitimate viewpoints, then you are as crazy as they are.
Regarding Debra Medina, she either agrees with the “9/11 Truthers” or she is too much of a wimp to admit that some of her supportes are kooks. Either way, she’s unfit for office.
She is an airhead who got where she is in life because her father is rich. She once stated to a woman at an event that she is running because "my daddy wants me to." I've also heard her use the term "PP=private plane". For example, "oh I'm going down to San Antonio this week. I'll probably take the PP." No freaking way.
“The list starts and ends with Michael Williams.”
MW is (and has been) the first choice. I would also be happy with Ted Cruz if it happens that Cruz does a better job of fundraising and campaigning.
I like most of the people I am seeing coming into the races so far, but I am far from committing to one yet. I can understand those of us who may already be working in campaigns, but I would hope they would identify themselves as such.
MichiganConservative: "The people get the government they deserve."
If you nominate Deb Medina for something you'll get a democrat landslide for that office and that's what you'll deserve.
Greenbow: "Debra Medina is a good Christian woman. Her 9/11 truther beliefs are therefore irrelevant."
You see Greenbow a big reason why her association with the lunatic truther movement isn't "irrelevant" despite her being a "good Christian woman" is because it means she's either a kook (if she believes it) or a moron (if she's just pandering to the kooks). Kooks and morons can't get elected unless they are liberals. So you see she's a good, Christian, and UNELECTABLE woman who embarrassed and hurt the conservative cause with her train wreck of a campaign. She left real conservatives no choice but to support Rick Perry of all people. FAIL.
Debra Medina's not a conservative.
She's a staunch Ron Paul-devotee-libertarian.
We don't need any more moonbattery in the Senate than we already have.
I'm leaning in Michael Williams' direction. Now he's a conservative.
Truther Greenbow gets the ZOT!
