Look at the link to see that headline (along with picture) on the front page of the St. Pete Times. Screen save it if you can. This is the title when you go to the story:
"AZ shooting targets US congresswoman, kills 6"
"....The sheriff blamed the vitriolic political rhetoric that has consumed the country, much of it occurring in Arizona.
Giffords expressed similar concern, even before the shooting. In an interview after her office was vandalized, she referred to the animosity against her by conservatives, including Sarah Palin's decision to list Giffords' seat as one of the top "targets" in the midterm elections.
"For example, we're on Sarah Palin's targeted list, but the thing is, that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have to realize that there are consequences to that action," Giffords said in an interview with MSNBC.
In the hours after the shooting, Palin issued a statement in which she expressed her "sincere condolences" to the family of Giffords and the other victims.
During his campaign effort to unseat Giffords in November, Republican challenger Jesse Kelly held fundraisers where he urged supporters to help remove Giffords from office by joining him to shoot a fully loaded M-16 rifle. Kelly is a former Marine who served in Iraq and was pictured ...
"I don't see the connection," between the fundraisers featuring weapons and Saturday's shooting, said John Ellinwood, Kelly's spokesman. "I don't know this person, we cannot find any records that he was associated with the campaign in any way. I just don't see the connection.
"Arizona is a state where people are firearms owners - this was just a deranged individual."...

One thing we can be sure of. He is not Tea Party. The Lib Media has no doubt spent every resource it has to uncover even a remote Tea Party connection. I imagine it has been a 100% effort. They have not come up with one.
Disgraceful comments by a true jackass of a sheriff.
No examples of violent words were given, just repeating the idea that violent words have been coming from the right. One, this is untrue. Two, they ignore the violence, actual violence from the left. Not 'violent words', but violence.
The liberals/left/Dems/MSM are lying, stinking creeps. I'm sick of them.
i was shocked by the sheriff’s political statements - thought sheriffs were apolitical. also am shocked that the murder of a U S judge is getting no play. is it because he was a conservative, mayhaps, and Giffords, for whom prayers are deserved, has a D after her name. just sayin.....
the sherriff needs to be fired for engaging in politics
Local power buys and supports elected officials and the local media. Their people will be elected. The media will jack up the scumbags and crucify good people. The Sheep just follow their lead.
I saw that happen here. A Sheriff was elected that got tough on the dope pushers and bootleggers. He was made out to be a fool on radio and in the local newspaper. He lost reelection and another good ole boy was put in.
dems are out of date. They still blame Bush and Palin for everything. Soon they will be blaming Michele Bachmann
I agree. Give them no quarter. Leftie asshats hate America and hate you.
High school classmate Grant Wiens, 22, said Loughner seemed to be "floating through life" and "doing his own thing.""Sometimes religion was brought up or drugs. He smoked pot, I don't know how regularly. And he wasn't too keen on religion, from what I could tell," Wiens said.
Lynda Sorenson said she took a math class with Loughner last summer at Pima Community College's Northwest campus and told the Arizona Daily Star he was "obviously very disturbed." "He disrupted class frequently with nonsensical outbursts," she said.
In October 2007, Loughner was cited in Pima County for possession of drug paraphernalia, which was dismissed after he completed a diversion program, according to online records.
Apparently the shooter was a pot smoking nut case. A good Democrat?
stand firm and tall folks!
"Arizona is a state where people are firearms owners - this was just a deranged individual."...
He was/is deranged alright.
It's now know he's a Pot-Smoking Liberal who liked reading the Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf (what 22 yo doesn't like reading that?), and he hated the US Government (I wonder what his DU screen name was?)
And the Sheriff is a bonehead. Bigotry had nothing to do with this. But IMHO Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' politics did. For one she was an 'ex-republican' and second, she now describes herself as a 'Blue Dog Democrat' (she's a Dam Conservative Wheezer!.. pass me the Bong.)
Yesterday I did some digging at the ACU website on Rep Giffords rating and votes. Its a very liberal 20, but her voting record on 2009 Bills was 'interesting'. She didn't exactly swallow Obama's and San Fran Nan's Kool-Aid on everything. And the things she voted on along ACU lines 'could possibly' drive a moonbat over the edge (IMO).
#5: Omnibus Appropriations for FY 2009 HR 1105 (Roll Call 86)Now that was only FIVE 'conservative' Votes out of 25 Bills the ACU had a position on in '09.
'.. it increased government spending by 8.4 percent on top of increases in the Stimulus bill. ACU opposed this example of irresponsible omnibus spending. (and so did Giffords)#9: Elected Office Crimes. HR 1728 (Roll Call 238)
'...bill that watered down an amendment approved in committee to bar ACORN..people who have been convicted of election law violations from access to funds... This version only applies to executives of an organization that have been convicted of a felony. ACU opposed this effort to protect ACORN...(and so did Giffords)#12: Cash for Clunkers. HR 2751 (Roll Call 314)
'...ACU saw that this program would be as wasteful and ineffective as it turned out to be, and so opposed it. (and so did Giffords)#22: Estate Tax Repeal. HR 4154 (Roll Call 928)
'...ACU supports permanent repeal of the death tax, and so supported this amendment..(and so did Giffords)#24: Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). HR 4173 (Roll Call 967) '...The House defeated an attempt to repeal the Troubled Asset Relief Program and lower the national debt limit. ACU supports both these goals...(and so did Giffords)
Could that have been 'enough'?
We certainly now how the DUmmies look at 'Clinton Centrists' and traitorous 'DINOs'.
This 'kid' could have read one too many DUmmie Hate Threads and snapped.
(being a pot-head sure doesn't help either).
This guy’s mother worked for the Parks Dept. What’s her political affiliation? Is she a Liberal? Maybe she didn’t see her son’s rants as far ‘out in Left field’ as the rest of us and didn’t get help for him soon enough?
Why was this kid diverted instead of prosecuted when he was in trouble previously with the law?
Why did it take so long for LEOs and EMTs to arrive?
If the kid purchased his gun legally was it because his diversions meant he didn't have a record and therefore could legally own a firearm?
Why hold back the pic of the unsub for so long? And what the heck do your lawyers have to do with the decision?!
“The left will use this to expand the police state and weaken the 2nd Amendment.”
I do wish Giffords a speedy and full recovery - part of that recovery I hope for is resisting the inevitable urge to go “Sarah Brady”.
Why did the kid have a gun at all?
