Conservative talk-radio host touts underdog bid for White House
The Hill ^ | Tuesday, December 28, 2010 | Shane D'Aprile

Herman Cain's presidential rumblings haven't garnered much national attention, but that isn't because he lacks popularity among grassroots conservatives or because he's shunned visits to early-voting states.

The conservative talk-radio host is a bonafide Tea Party rock star who's a regular at their events and serves as a commentator on Fox News.

By his count, Cain has visited Iowa six times in the past year and has supporters making calls to key activists in the state. He's also made three trips to New Hampshire, one to South Carolina, four to Texas and two to Florida.

In an interview, the one-time Senate candidate and former CEO of Godfather's Pizza told The Ballot Box that he's serious about running and thinks he can shake up the race for the 2012 GOP nomination.

"I would represent that unconventional, non-establishment candidate that a lot of people are looking for," said Cain, a conservative black Republican who described the current field of GOP hopefuls as "the usual suspects."

...

February's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) could serve as a launching pad of sorts for Cain. He's set to speak at the event and said he'll likely take part in the much-buzzed-about CPAC presidential straw poll...

Cain recently beat out former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) in an online 2012 straw poll conducted among readers of the conservative blog RedState.

Doctrinaire Conservative. Created jobs for people from scratch. Is a man with a sense of humor. Has precise solutions to today's serious issues. Excellent choice to have in the primaries.

Cain recently beat out former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) in an online 2012 straw poll conducted among readers of the conservative blog RedState.
Herman Cain won in ONE online straw poll on RedState -- which he flogged aggressively via Twitter and his Facebook page.

In several SUBSEQUENT RedState polls -- which he did NOT "FReep," Governor Palin beat him like a rented mule -- and SHE never promoted any of those RedState polls using tweets or Facebook plugs. ;)

I like Herman Cain.

He's just not (yet) ready for a Presidential run.

Gays: Start fretting over Atlanta’s Herman Cain
By Project Q Atlanta | Dec 29, 2010 |

Herman Cain is besties with the Family Research Council and a Baptist Church, so forgive us if we’re less than thrilled that the Atlanta radio host and pundit is readying his presidential run.

Besides, aren’t there enough Tea Party-loving, anti-gay conservatives with their eyes on the White House prize in 2012?...

I agree that living "inside the Beltway" is so corrupting that few can avoid succumbing to its temptations...
...but the office of President is not an "entry level" position.
Succeeding as an elected official requires certain skill sets not easily acquired outside of the "rough and tumble" of the political battlefield.
We need someone as Pressident who can win the political battles, but remain uncorrupted by the political "elite" in Washington, DC.
That is, we need someone like Sarah Palin, IMHO.

I understand.

It took Abraham Lincoln MANY attempts at running unsuccessfully for political office until HE was ready to win..

Herman Cain just needs a little more "seasoning."
