Glenn Beck said today that he has spoken to military experts about the mystery contrail from a few weeks ago and he says it’s definitely not a plane, but rather a two stage missile. He just wants to know where it came from, and he has a theory. Beck postulates that this missile was possibly from a Chinese sub off the coast of California, perhaps as a show of force to the world, but even more so to President Obama.
I would bet anything any enemy foreign sub is being tracked by a American sub at all times.
If that was a missle, that N. Korean/Chinese/Iranian sub is now making a new coral reef.
Get a grip. Bahnney already admitted he was wrong...changed his mind and profferred some other flight...which was already past before the vid was taken.

Sorry Glenn, your penchant for believing conspiracies has gotten to you on this one.
They even have a picture of the contrail from space, clearly showing it is not a smoke plume from the ground, but a contrail tailing off into the horizon.
I do wish I knew who these people are that our conservative commentators are talking to, because I am beginning to suspect a military-run disinformation capaign to de-legitimize these spokespeople by making them look a bit crazy.
Why is the contrail perpendicular to the beach & horizon?

I love that first picture, because if you realize the sun has set already, and then realise you can see the sun reflection in the smoke plume, it is obvious that the plume HAS to be rising from the western horizon with the sun reflecting off the bottom; if the plume came up from the ground 40 miles out, it would all be in shadow.
China has no conflict or problem with the American people; just the reverse. China owns the USA and has good public relations with American people. China would not want to panic Americans or turn the people against them.
From Canada, the first thing I thought of when I saw the video was it was a missile fired from a Chinese sub because it was aimed west at the wide open Pacific. It was a show of force to Obama. Probably hoping he will quit printing Monopoly money used to pay debts to China. Do you blame them for being pissed?
China would not want to cause panic among Americans but they do have a huge problem with the OBAMA ADMINISTRATION, who thumbs their nose at those who hold the USA mortgage.

There are no flames on any of the videos or still pictures.
You mean, like about 500 of them strapped together? That contrail would be an awful lot of smoke for a shoulder-launched missile . . .
When I saw the video, it was clearly a rocket motor, as the particulates were thick and billowing from the get-go, not to mention the visible flame as it reached apogee.
The only thing about this story that bothers me is the lack of other witnesses to the same event. How is it in a basin of millions of people, only a TV news chopper captured the event? Where is the supporting video from other sources?
I conjectured that China was responsible, and the event was carefully done so that the missile was under the field of regard of our early warning sensors, to tell us that not only can they:
1. Get that close with their subs,
2. And launch a strategic SLBM, but
3. They know our space ISR parameters.
But I am just speculating.
Sigh, that’s helpful to the cause.
Well Keith in Iowa and the others that say beck is nuts etc, the guy is a talk show host, but he isn’t nuts. You are too lazy to listen to find out that’s what.

I sure as hell hope you are correct. My gut tells me otherwise. But, be that as it may, there ain’t a dam thing I can do about it anyway. I’ll just put my Naval experience on the shelf and go back to working in my garden.
He may or may not be nuts - I don’t find him worth my while to pay any attention to. No, I’m not to lazy - just overwrought with indifference to what he has to say. Or not say.
You do know some people were seriously claiming it was one of the 6 foot tall model rockets.
