The Texas congressman who rattled the GOP establishment with his libertarian-leaning outsider run for president has suddenly found himself the target of the anti-incumbent Tea Party movement some credit him with helping inspire.

How can anybody trust libertarians when their favorite son loads up legislation that he knows will pass and gives the pork while giggling I voted against it.? Excellent point.
Ron Paul is a man without honor.
He runs as a Republican, when in fact, he's a Libertarian, so why doesn't the coward run as a Libertarian? He's the true RINO.

“This has produced a Ron Paulite movement all over the country with a constant tendency to siphon away 3 or 4% of the vote from Republicans and help elect Democrats.”
Ahem, this is only true when they do something dumb like vote for LP candidates in close races.
Keeping them in the GOP and part of the coalition actually helps the situation.

THis is the BEST thing the Tea Party folks in Texas could do! While Paul is great on economic and political liberties, his foreign policy ideas are a complete disaster! If they can put up a candidate that holds to a similar vision on economics and domestic policy, but who is strong on national defense, I’ll support him or her for SURE! Can’t vote in Texas — but they’d have my backing in other ways!

The problem is that he has delusions of grandeur, and keeps running for President. This has produced a Ron Paulite movement all over the country with a constant tendency to siphon away 3 or 4% of the vote from Republicans and help elect Democrats.
If Ron Paul had just stuck to congress, he would be fine. Hes a voice thats needed on fiscal matters. But on the national stage, he is a persistent nuisance and spoiler.Oh yeah, he's a damn nuisance and a garbage can for malcontent voters, but those people will always find another similar candidate like Chuckie Baldwin or Bob Barr, but not one quite like Ron Paul who abuses (cheats) his way into the debates by running and holding elected office as a Republican.
If real conservatives want to get rid of him, I presume thats the reason.
Yes, according to the article and the quoted challengers, they're sick of national grandstanding.
At least he's willing to debate with them. Of course he loves to debate...lol.

Wow. Thanks for posting that eye-opener. I can scratch that I support his fiscal policies now, too. That only leaves support for his monetary policy, and that might even be questionable.
The continued research on Paul is revealing a duplicitous and dark side of him.

Good. He is the Lyndon LaRouche of the right.

I am not sure why the tea party would target Ron Paul. You may not agree with everything thing about him, but on the core issue of smaller government you have to like him.
