Christopher *swish* Christie, said that.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually, run out of other peoples money. - Margaret Thatcher

I saw him on TV about a month or so ago.He is no conservative.\
Just the fact that he says he saw Bruce Springsteen live over 100 times proves my point.

You're right about that, Joe. And it goes all the way back to Jeff Bell in 1978 when he knocked of sitting senator Case in the primary. They stabbed Bell in the back in the general.
I think Lonegan has a little worse than even chance to win. But if he does win.....and I am putting his sign up on my front lawn to piss off my neighbors..........the GOP will be well advised to play it straight in the general. There is a lot of anger out there and Corzine is hated and if Lonegan wins the primary I for one will be pushing for a State GOP purge from the gitgo, before the general.

“If Lonegan wins the primary, the RINO left has apparently already promised to run a 3rd party candidate.”
I hope that’s an empty threat.

Remember Jeff Bell, a real conservative, beat Clifford P. Case in the 1978 primary, and then he was creamed by the popular Bradley. NJ has a great aversion to conservatives, as does the whole Northeast.

This is very amusing. Christies claim of conservativism is as credible as a Bill Clinotn claim of honesty.LOL

Just curious, is New Jersey such a high tax dependent state that anyone running on freedom from government can win? Once those public employee constituencies get so large like they appear to be in New Jersey, it seems like its impossible for anyone who isnt in the back pocket of the unions to win. There's a question I'm curious to see the answer to - do we have more PO'd taxpayers than we have people whose salaries are paid by taxes? I'd like to think the PO'd taxpayers will one day shake themselves awake and realize who got them where they are... but the voter disconnect I see here may be too much to overcome. We'll find out soon enough.
I'll be voting Lonegan.

It’s ok, you can keep me on. Unofficially... lol!
Yesterday I had one of those canned phone calls that Bret pre-recorded. I was totally gung-ho for Bret when he ran for guv, having met him several times and was very impressed. I’m more than a little disappointed that he’s lined up behind Christie.
Of course if Christie wins the primary there’s no contest between him and Corzine. However I’m praying it won’t come to that choice.

Lousy candidates. Lying candidates. Candidates who makeover their images during the campaign, and then stick us in the back if they get elected.
It's got to stop.
Can you imagine what the reaction would be if 150,000 or 200,000 registered NJ Republicans sent letters to the county and state GOP saying: "If you nominate Christie as the candidate, I'm staying home on Election Day" -- and copied those letters to every local paper, TV, and radio station. Can you just imagine?
If all those thousands of people did that, during the same week, there would be massive panic in the GOP headquarters. They'd finally realize that, if they're going to run crappy candidates, then they're on their own ... and everyone will suffer because of them ... and we conservatives will make it publicly known who is REALLY responsible.

Lonergan is essentially the Ron Paul of New Jersey politics. Great ideas with crackpot delivery, but not a chance in hell at statewide success.

Can you just imagine? Writing letters is nice, but the party doesn't "select" the candidate. In the end, the registered Republican primary voters actually decide the candidate.
Apparently, the majority of Republican voters in the state prefer limp-wristed milquetoast almost-Democratic candidates.

Schundler was about a good a candidate as this state will get and he got drilled-twice-because the RINOs stayed home. I will give $ and time to Lonegan in the primary and then to Christie when he wins the primary.

I have a friend who worked on Lonegan's last campaign, and he'd have agreed with you 100% on the "pigheaded boy scout" thing. The whole campaign was a mess.
I have to say, they've really gotten it together this time around. Lonegan didn't disappear after the election and pop up with 3 weeks to go like so many other "fringe" candidates do; he managed to keep his name out there with his radio spots and other publicity stunts over the past few years. Since the beginning of this year he's been hitting every possible venue to get the conservative vote out. It looks like there was a plan.
Lonegan may still be a stubborn SOB who needs a personality upgrade, but whoever's running that campaign is doing a pretty good job - a lot better than the last go-round.
