I have a friend who worked on Lonegan's last campaign, and he'd have agreed with you 100% on the "pigheaded boy scout" thing. The whole campaign was a mess.

I have to say, they've really gotten it together this time around. Lonegan didn't disappear after the election and pop up with 3 weeks to go like so many other "fringe" candidates do; he managed to keep his name out there with his radio spots and other publicity stunts over the past few years. Since the beginning of this year he's been hitting every possible venue to get the conservative vote out. It looks like there was a plan.

Lonegan may still be a stubborn SOB who needs a personality upgrade, but whoever's running that campaign is doing a pretty good job - a lot better than the last go-round.
