Christie says he's the conservative in race for Governor (laugh alert)
PolitickerNJ ^ | ‎May 1, 2009‎ | Max Pizzaro

Fighting the description out there that he's a centrist in wolf's clothing, GOP gubernatorial candidate Christopher Christie challenged the essence of his chief rival's campaign today as he suggested that Steven Lonegan, leader of New Jersey's conservative moment, is running plays out of the Democratic Party playbook.

This is very amusing. Christie’s claim of conservativism is as credible as a Bill Clinotn claim of honesty.

The popularity of the ‘Rat Governor is so low, the Republican nominee will win if he runs a good campaign. So I say lets go for the gold and choose the conservative.

Even if this is the GOP primary, I'm surprised he'd want to make that an issue.

I haven't been following NJ recently. If Lonegan is the conservative, why is Schundler supporting Christie?

Christie is showing himself to be an idiot.
Will all our problems here in NJ, he’s running the stupidest sounding radio ads assuring us he will see
to it that “when” taxes are raised it will only be with
a 2/3 majority , or somesuch lame nonsense.
Lonegan is the only real candidate.
And Lonegan is right is saying that Christie’s only issue
is “ethics”.
And besides, do we need ANOTHER Governor named, first or last, “Christie”??????

It’s a good sign, as it shows that Christie is losing ground in the primary. I think this is a great opportunity.

Just curious, is New Jersey such a high tax dependent state that anyone running on freedom from government can win? Once those public employee constituencies get so large like they appear to be in New Jersey, it seems like it’s impossible for anyone who isn’t in the back pocket of the unions to win.

is running plays out of the Democratic Party playbook.

The Soros Maoists will only be defeated by kicking them in the gonads...."nice guy" politics doesn't work anymore.

Don't forget that George Patton perfected the tactics Rommel and Guderian used in the Blitzkrieg. Apparently, Christie wants to play nice, be 'classy' and lose by a landslide. If you're going up against Democrats, all they understand is force....if they shoot your dog, you burn their house down. If they photograph you in a hotel with your secretary, you photograph them with farm animals. If they say you're "mean sthpiwited", you show them how many blacks were lynched by Democrats in the past century. You STAY ON THE OFFENSIVE.

If Lonegan wins the primary, the RINO left has apparently already promised to run a 3rd party candidate. They do all they can to sandbag viable Conservatives in NJ. Sad to realize that it will have been nearly 70 years since the last one was elected Governor of NJ, Charles Edison, and he had to run as a Democrat (and with the help of Boss Hague).

I like Schundler, and attended one of his meet and greets at a wealthy donors house a few years back, when he was running. He has been an unsuccessful candidate more than once. I can’t imagine why he’d be supporting Christie, but it’s clear Christie has the RNC blessing ....Schundler is said to have lost because the national RNC did not do a thing to help him—now maybe he thinks there’s a place for him in a Christie administration. I don’t know.

Rions know they won’t get a majority unless they lie about being conservative.

The day that actual conservatives in northeastern states can actually win the highest political levels in, both, the GOP primary races and the general election, will definitely be a great day for all of conservatism, and the sooner that this really happens, the better!

The NJ state GOP – only marginally better than the Democrats here – is trying, once again, to push a Republican candidate that conservative voters don’t want. Nearly every county in New Jersey has had its county GOP endorse Christie ... even though Christie is pro-gun control, pro-abortion, pro-Abbott Districts, and has said that being an illegal alien “is not a crime.” In other words, the same-old, same-old kind of “Republican” candidate we’ve come to expect in every election in New Jersey.

I say that it’s time for this state party machine to receive notice that we’re not going to put up this crap any more.

I’m not (or have not been, I guess) a Lonegan fanatic ... but I’ve been listening to him for the last several years, and I like what I hear. Already, I’ve been reading the usual arguments: “he can’t win,” “he can’t beat Corzine,” etc. The same arguments we hear every election, the same arguments that leave us with either a crappy elected official or a crappy losing candidate. I’m tired of that cycle, and I say it’s time to break it.

In addition to Lonegan’s accomplishments as mayor of Bogota, let’s not forget that HE was largely responsible for the successful defeat of those ballot initiatives a few years back. So the “Lonegan can’t win” argument is pretty weak.

If the recent Tea Parties have demonstrated anything, it’s that “the power of the people” is NOT yet dead in America. That people can come together in common cause and make a difference in the status quo.

I’m not in any way denigrating Christie’s accomplishments as a federal prosecutor. In fact, I’ve been a huge fan of those accomplishments. I’d like to see him do more of the same ... but this good-ol’ boy network that is the NJ Republican Party MUST BE STOPPED.

Since February, conservatives across the country have shown that this kind of thing CAN be accomplished. Is anyone willing to do it here in New Jersey? Or will we continue to be dictated to by a state GOP that is only marginally better than the Democrats?

Schundler lost because the New Jersey GOP machine turned its back on him. In the pages of NJ GOP history, this ranks as one of the more disgraceful acts (and there are many).

Ask him about the Second Amendment. And ask him, if he is a conservative, not a liberal (there are no “centrists” in the Republican Party, just conservatives, people who pretend they are, and RINOs), WHY he has JulieAnnie making calls for him.

Christie has a facebook page.

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=21913187145

I posted there and my guy posted there. We were both sent Private messages with an email address. I sent an email with SEVEN questions (would be happy to post them here if anyone is interested) and have not gotten a word back. But I am not surprised, since they were not fluff questions like he seems to be getting from the press interviews I have seen.
