U.S. regulatory czar nominee wants Net 'Fairness Doctrine'Cass Sunstein sees Web as anti-democratic, proposed 24-hour delay on sending e-mail.
WASHINGTON Barack Obama's nominee for "regulatory czar" has advocated a "Fairness Doctrine" for the Internet that would require opposing opinions be linked and also has suggested angry e-mails should be prevented from being sent by technology that would require a 24-hour cooling off period.
The revelations about Cass Sunstein, Obama's friend from the University of Chicago Law School and nominee to head the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, come in a new book by Brad O'Leary, "Shut Up, America! The End of Free Speech." OIRA will oversee regulation throughout the U.S. government

Got a dialup modem in my computer, more than willing to go back to the days of dialup boards. Heck, considering the number of methods to get unlimited calling for relatively cheap, boards could be set up virtually anywhere.

angry e-mails should be prevented from being sent by technology that would require a 24-hour cooling off period. "Mr. Obama -- I think you suck." [SEND]
AI voice: I'm sorry Dave. I can't send this email.
"Don't be ridiculous!" [SEND]
AI voice: No, Dave. You are far too angry. Why don't you cool off for awhile?
"Worthless piece of junk! Just send it!" [SEND]
AI Voice: I can't do that, Dave. I'm shutting down now.

What part of “Congress shall make no law” applies here? Silly me, not a bit.
To: dvan
The part about linking opposite opinions will be far more damaging to the left than the right.
In my experience, conservatives are perfectly willing to discuss and highlight left-wing opinions -- because their illogic destroys them in the light of day.

It sure does seem that way.
So ... WHERE ARE REPUBLICANS?
To: dvan
Of course, on easy way to circumvent this nonsense is to get a non-US email account like mailvault.com or www.safe-mail.net. Or even get a non-US host for your blogsite, such as www.hostingpanama.com or www.offshore-web-hosts.com ($5/mo)

Does this mean that if I called obama a @$$#&%$@ that I would have to call him warm and fuzzy too?

Good question. Seems to me like the whole mess of them, with a very few possible exceptions, need to be handed their walking papers in 2010. If we make it that far, that is.
